Just like the first post above sdar wouldn't even let maliki's crew in the door to discuss anything. I told ya'll he and the fab five haven't and won't listen to him any more he blew his chances on the 13th of this month when he didn't implement one of the nine. Case over . *** Flashback ***
UPDATE: The following is part of a narrative I wrote back on the 9th – it is still entirely holds true (amazing)!!
I made the prediction during our call last Tuesday (5/8?) that when this story is written – the recent meeting of the “Erbil 5″ will either be known as “The Meeting” – or at worst, the precursor to “The Meeting” everyone has been looking for. How can I say this?? Easy. All the major players met, they discussed it, they have an agenda laid out, they gave Maliki a 15-day ultimatum. Simple. They didn’t give him 15 days to have another meeting, 15 days to think about it or 15 days to set the “agenda” for another meeting. They gave him 15 days to GET IT DONE!!
Maliki went to Kirkuk for a big “meeting” with local leaders. He took a battery of artillery and helicopters with him. This was all a “show of force” to Erbil. A vague threat that if they truly move against him – he’ll invade Kirkuk (one of the highly contested and sought after regions). He also “ordered” the Peshmerga (the Kurdish Army) out of Kirkuk (not that they will listen).

UPDATE: Here’s a quick peek…
I’m done with the first part of my trip and I’m up at the cottage on Lake Geneva. I’m writing today’s blog out on the patio. It is awesome here!! There isn’t be a “That’s Messed Up…” yet – I’ll be doing regular updates all afternoon.
Yesteday went from a pretty light news day to a massive turn in the span of just a few hours. Here is a “blockbuster” headline…

UPDATE: Here’s a quick peek…
I’m still on the road so I’ll do a more extensive update this evening. There won’t be a “That’s Messed Up…” word until then – so stay tuned.
The most interesting news of the day is there was a “mini-summit” meeting of the Erbil 5 today in Najaf (possibly an additional “secret” meeting tomorrow). I did foresee this and even talked about it on the last call (see above).
Another very interesting side note…I thought it would be the “death tone” for Maliki if Hakim showed up to this meeting. He did not. Almost a close second – Chalibi did show though…amazing!!

UPDATE: Here’s a quick reminder as to some of the folks we can thank for possiblity of this opportunity…
“Memorial Day is approaching, when we honor those men and women who have fought and died to protect us from our military enemies. While large numbers of soldiers who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan have been brought home, thousands did so in caskets, and many are still in the field, still risking their lives in the name of freedom.
At the end of February, 4,477 American service members had died in the fighting in Iraq and 1,888 had died in Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense. We need to keep praying for those soldiers still in the field.
Some people consider the act of a soldier to be violent and against the cause of love. We recognize that the soldier stands to protect the innocent, to stand up for those who cannot protect themselves. The soldier lays down his life out of love for his family and friends and neighbors. As we celebrate Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on our nation’s rich history and the principles on which it was founded, principles that each soldier stands to protect so that we all can be safe.

Poppy3: The real news of today will not appear till after at least 1PM today and most after 2PM today. Many of the more critical changes will not be reported till Friday and Saturday. They are active today on many levels and there will be tons of rumors and misinterpreted reactions to what is being said. Let this play out for a day or so and the real facts will finally show through.
The RV can appear on our door step at any time during all these new developments. The report to congress was just estimations showing things are being studied and that progress is being made. It is a good report, not bad.
