I know the currently “line of reasoning” has some vague reference to the Obama White House. I’m fully aware. I get it. However, I have a sneaky suspicion no matter who it is and how “high up” they are – they won’t be able to stop this in the long run. These people are fighting tooth and nail for their democracy and they won’t give up!! Maliki has tried to “rework” his public image and make it look like he’s a “good guy” – no one is fooled.
The other tough thing about this line of reasoning – it’s almost impossible to tell which side of the fence this Administration lands on because they are constantly playing both ends against the middle (taken from “real professional” politcal observers). So at this point – we don’t know for sure. One thing is sure – there is a serious struggle going on (which is good news for us) and in the end there will be some forward movement of the Iraqi economy.

1) To fully implement all previous agreements – his opponents not only don’t believe him to be sincere, they aren’t crazy about letting him stay at all.
2) Resign just prior to an official vote in Parliament (which is a very strong possibility)
3) Try to fight it – through the end of a vote in Parliament. He may well do this – but if he does, he knows the “prognosis” for winning is bleak and what comes after a loss is even more bleak.

This is spectacular news!! Looks like we could have the session started in Arbil as early as Tuesday. If this happens without Maliki having done a deal – my take is…he is completely “porked”. There is no way he survives. I had alluded to the fact a Parliament session on Maliki could happen Thurs/Sat/Sun and then we hear about some outcome Monday or Tuesday – but Tuesday is fine. I don’t mind being off a day or two here and there ;)
Sadrists lose faith in Iraq’s Maliki
Lawmakers will submit a request for an inquiry against Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, adding the parliament would then decide whether to move to a non-confidence vote. UPI/Kevin Dietsch License photo
BAGHDAD, June 22 (UPI) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki lacks the political vision to lead an effective administration in Baghdad, a lawmaker allied with a key Shiite cleric said. Speaker of the Parliament Osama al-Nujaifi said Thursday at a news conference that lawmakers will submit a request for inquiry against Maliki, adding the Parliament would then decide whether to move to a non-confidence vote.
When U.S. forces left the country in December, Maliki issued an arrest warrant for Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi on charges of overseeing a death squad. Maliki’s opponents, meanwhile, said he’s monopolizing power in Baghdad.
Dia al-Asadi, head of the Ahrar bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, told political reporting Web site Niqash that his organization was getting behind the no-confidence effort despite the alliance with Maliki’s majority political alliance.
“Our main concern is that Maliki doesn’t have a plan to administer the country. And if he has, then we want to know about it,” he said. “If he hasn’t, then there’s a big problem because we are living in a country that needs comprehensive, fast and integrated development.” Ahrar is the political arm of the Sadrist movement, led by influential Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr. Asadi said his group was aligned with ruling parties because of shared opposition to the U.S. military presence in the country.

VN one of the world’s hottest economies: report
Vietnam is amongst 29 nations that are expected to be the world’s fastest growing countries in the next two years, according to Business Insider, the economic magazine said in a report released Wednesday. The ranking was based on the World Bank’s 2013 and 2014 growth estimates in its semi-annual “Global Economic Prospects” report, the magezine said.
ietnam stands at 22nd place in the list led by Iraq and ending with Botswana. “Exports are a major driver of economic growth in Vietnam — growing 33 percent in 2011. Some of its major exports are garments, oil, electronics, rice, and machinery,” the report stated. The WB report estimates that the GDP of Vietnam from 2012 to 2014 will be above 5.7 percent, 6.3 percent, and 6.5 percent, respectively. In the Southeast Asian region, Vietnam stands behind Indonesia (21st place), Laos, and Cambodia.
Laos is ranked #4 with respective 2012-2014 GDP estimated to be 8.2, 7.6, and 7.4 percent. “The economy of Laos, a country on the UN’s list of least developed economies, is growing quickly, albeit from a very low level, as a result of foreign and infrastructure investment,” WB stated in its report. The hottest economy, according to Business Insider, is Iraq, with estimated GDPs of 11.1 percent (2012), 14.1 percent (2013), and 11 percent (2014).

This article really captured my attention – and I don’t know if it was because VN was ranked among the hottest economies or that Iraq was ranked number 1?? In any event – this should put the LOPsters to bed. Typically the “unnamed” three lettered word is reserved for currency scenarios where the economy is on a serious downward slide and they are attempting to “instill” confidence in the currency and make transactions easier. Neither of these two currencies fit that mold. They are both rated as very strong economies.
