Maliki offering up a resignation letter is legit…I believe he wants to get everything in his agreements implemented (and quick). The only way anyone will listen is if he shows them he’s serious. However, on the same point, because he has such a bad track record – they are proceeding with the “no confidence” as though they intend to remove him. Which they do…I suspect the 21st (as soon as Parliament show back up to work) to be Maliki’s D-Day!!
If you’ve ever had a crooked ref in a ball game you know what it looks like – Talibani might not be crooked, but if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck – what’s the difference?? He’s threatening to resign as of yesterday – which doesn’t really matter since he already gave his resignation letter to Barzani a month ago. All this we’re hearing is mostly “posturing” – nothing more. The reality is, if a deal isn’t fully complete by Thursday – the fireworks start. Simple as that.

Most of what we have heard over the last month from the various Maliki camps and what we’ll hear coming up is just posturing. They have virtually no chance and now they know it. The SLC, Dawa party and NA are doing everything they can to try and stem the tide of this sentiment. It won’t happen. This is a runaway freight train and this coming week will be very interesting.

I’ve been saying this for some time now – and if it’s truly a “secret ballot” it will be even worse than this for Maliki. It will be a “landslide” – he has a very short, final window of opportunity. He has no major supporters and time is almost out. However, I do get the sense that he either intends to resign or fully implement – I always had the impression he would fight…it just doesn’t look like it right now.

Not much commentary needed - they don’t seem to be letting off the gas if you ask me….
Kuwaiti leaks: the positions of al-Maliki of Syria and Iran might oust him outside the walls of the Green Zone
Twilight News/ Kuwaiti newspaper revealed on Saturday that the United States and the U.S. reached the conviction of the necessity of changing the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
She was a Kuwaiti newspaper, and I followed “Twilight News”, that “the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden arrived conviction that the exclusion of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki from office because of his support for the Syrian regime and queued with Iran.”
The newspaper said that “Biden told several Iraqi leaders that he will visit Erbil and then will go to Baghdad because of Maliki’s refusal to visit him at this time,” indicating that the “visit to Arbil, come to support the positions of President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani, in his insistence on the withdrawal of confidence from the al-Maliki.”
The paper talked about the “al-Maliki has failed to arrange a meeting between Iranian officials and the Americans through their participation in the meetings of 5 +1 with the Iranian side in Baghdad on the Iranian nuclear file in order to reach a common understanding and support for Maliki to stay in office.”

This is EXACTLY what I was saying – Maliki still has a very short window, but it is only open for a couple more days….he’s in some very serious trouble. The US and other PTB are pretty much fed up with him. The short story is – he was somewhat useful for a time…maybe even worth the headaches, but now he’s politically toxic on both sides of “the pond” (in an election year). He won’t do anything they need him to. For instance, helping out with Iran?? Now he’s getting some international press as to how much “in the tank” for Assad he really is. The White House doesn’t want to get on the wrong side of this PR nightmare!!! Can you imagine how badly it would go for President Obama’s re-election if the press caught wind of how long we have been aligned with a bloodthirsty dictator, semi-aligned with Iran and supporting genocide in Syria by estoppel??
Maliki’s options are limited…fully implement immediately (if not sooner), resign with immunity – or face a legitimate “no confidence” vote in Parliament as early as this coming Thursday. I don’t expect him to let it go till then – but anything is possible.
Here are some interesting headlines…
Hrbo: Iran saved Maliki confidence
They haven’t saved anything yet – the only thing that might save Maliki is the magnificent pressure being applied gets him to “live up to” his end of the deal. Period. Other than that – he’s a “dead man walking”.
Front Erbil, Najaf, al-Maliki prosecute
They fully intend to file suit and prosecute Maliki on this one – though minor, to them – it’s the point. He’s defaming them by calling them seditionists for acting in a perfectly democratic way. Maliki has been the one subverting democracy all along. Bribes, treason, intimidation, etc, etc, etc…this one is just the tip of the “iceberg”.

Alshahbandar: Maliki agrees to hand over the Sadrists, the accountability and justice to end the crisis between them!!
Just more posturing – he’s got no time. Before he gets those files out – he’s gone and he knows it.
Maliki calls for lifting of sanctions on Iran to reduce the proportion of uranium enrichment and strange silence on Israel
Is this guy on CRACK??? There’s no way the international community will go for this!! I really think this was the “straw that broke the camels back”.
