UPDATE: A great big THANK YOU  to all of our MOD’s – they are so awesome. None of what I get credit for could I do without them. They and our members are a very serious bunch of newshounds – it’s tough to keep up with them!! ;)

The top three articles on NINA (one of the respected feeds) today were – Sadr calling for a speedy removal of Maliki, The Kurds saying a quorum will be reached in Parliament and Barzani irritated about having sent over 170 signatures and getting “zipped” for it.

I don’t see things as all that far sideways – just yet. My take is – I’m looking for things to get “really kicked off” sometime headed toward this weekend thru about the middle of next week. It could have gone sooner – but didn’t. Sorry.

There are rumors about significant US and Iranian pressure to keep Maliki – which may well explain some of the delay. However, there is a very deep current of sentiment to remove Maliki and it will not surprise me one bit if all this pressure from the outside backfires right in all their faces.

Looks to me like they are getting ready to get “this show on the road” – everyone would have liked Talibani to send the “official word” but it wasn’t required. Talibani is under some kind of duress. It’s hard to tell exactly what it is – but he’s playing his part. In the mean time – they will proceed against Maliki. This forward movement should be a dead-giveaway as to where all the “high speed” rhetoric is coming from. Maliki is desperate to save his hide. He may get some outside help – but it may not be enough. These guys are p!ssed!!

Talibani’s own alliance is asking him to stay and send an “official letter” from the POR to the Speaker and let them get on with it. I doubt he will – but in the end his people will vote the right way. They already have…in fact.

Here’s where the story gets very interesting – two days ago  Maliki wasn’t even sure Hakim “had his back”. I’m not sure he does yet. However, Maliki has asked Hakim to “meditate” the crisis. If you’re not even sure of the guy – it seems pretty desperate to have him holding your future in his hands – does it not??

Source: There is almost a consensus to take on al-Zubaidi, succeeding owners

And the plot thickens even further – it appears there are some talks ongoing for the “care-taker” PM to be out of Hakim’s IISC bloc. Now that is a real twist!! I truly hope this guy sticks it right to Washington and Tehran – BOTH!! It’s about time someone stood up and did the right thing. If this turns out to be true – refer back to my early comments about Hakim and Sadr then just stick a fork right in Maliki – He’s done!!

Haider Mulla: if al-Maliki made responsible for the files that threatens to eliminate the hand and kept it all this time

Confirmed the Iraqi List led by Iyad Allawi, on Wednesday, that the political forces that met in Erbil, Najaf and discussed the withdrawal of confidence from Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki condemned for asylum to the method of the threat of open files against another, while considered that if he was keen indeed to the interests of the Iraqi people do not use that files as leverage in his hand.

A spokesman for the list Haider Mulla said in a statement issued today, “Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has begun to threaten to open the files as usual against the political partners in the curriculum, if anything, it shows that some of the parties to understand democracy only when it serves their interests.”

Al Mulla expressed his “condemnation” of Iraq and the Sadrists and the Kurdistan Alliance and the National Alliance, the forces of some of these threats, asserting that it “will not only Tzadhm resolve and determination to move to withdraw confidence from Maliki.”

They are basically saying if Maliki cared at all about doing his job he would have proceeded with these allegations (if they were ever real – to begin with) – but he only cares about democracy when it suits his current interests. They go on to say (what I have been all along) “just pounding more nails in the lid of his own coffin”.

Straight from my secret “decoder ring” ;)

Here are some interesting developments…

Interesting step in the lifting of all the concrete barriers around the Iraqi Council of Representatives by order of the Prime Minister

Isn’t it odd that under orders from Maliki they remove the concrete barriers protecting Parliament one day and the very next day – bombings start?? How about that for intimidation?!?

Barzani: Kurdistan, people do not accept the current situation and support the efforts to stop the dictatorship

The opposition is staying focused – they are fighting for freedom and a true democracy – we should be helping instead of acting like a bunch of self-centered jerks (our politicians – I’m talking about here)!!

Qusay al-Suhail: bombings today to try to sow chaos and provoke sedition and intimidation of citizens

Looks like the good guys don’t want anything to  do with this bombing mess. Think about it, who does chaos and delay benefit??

Iraq: the threat majority government project and desperate for an alternative activation of the partnership in decision-making

Maliki is desperate to do anything possible to avoid removal and having to share power. He has threatened a “majority government” several times. Which won’t happen – more nails please!!

State law: the bombings today retaliatory reaction to the failure of the project confidence

Figures – they blame everyone but themselves…like I said “who does this benefit”?? You guessed it – the ones “on the ropes”.

Bombings today: Planners (smart) and government agencies are complicit with terrorism

This is a rapidly developing narrative – watch close.
