[NuffSaid] I heard a rumor that the RV hold up is just waiting for the Iraq parliament members to receive their gold plated toilets. Any second now this should be resolved. However, information is very fluid and can change.
[BigB] misskitty05 There is some talk about health insurance but I don't think that is an option. Too bad we can;t organize as a group and get our own.
[BigB] misskitty05 As for health insurance, I will go on my wife's Cobra and then I will take out a major medical policy and be self funded for maybe $5,000 or $10,000
[misskitty05] BigB you can get your own policy much cheaper than COBRA but COBRA provides some protection that an individual policy does not so there is the trade off

[BigB] misskitty05 I want my own personal banker available 24/7 with his/her personal cell #. Not that I would need it but one never knows.

BigB] misskitty05 If the RV comes in where I think it is, I will engage my own planners. Remember, they are bankers - kind of like politians.
[misskitty05] BigB I plan to engage my own as well but there's no reason the bank can't pay for it. The bank's peeps work with outside counsel anyway
[sunny] 1:38 am Blaino: ALSO...... Monday, MONDAY.... May be better than the SONG.......... If you know your mammas n pappas (60's code....lol) i have confirmed some "fits and starts" as we used to say
[BigB] sunny I saw that but we have all read him. I do like him, guess he is no better or worse than any other intel gatherer.
[sunny] BigB Well, during a Bloomberg interview a high official on Fri. said "the Euro will revalue" on a Sat. night and we'll know about it Mon. morning. So maybe blaino is on to something.
[sunny] BigB And .32 cents neighborhood for the VND sounds awesome too!
[BigB] sunny I have no problems eating my words. Throughout my life, I have actually learned to like the taste of shoeleather.
[misskitty05] sunny I tht the VND had a .23 cap on it by contract
paradisegirl] sunny BigB IMO, the best way to go with financial planners is fee-based, where they charge a percentage each quarter, based on the size of your portfolio, the larger, the lower the percentage. It's a win-win, the more money the planner makes for you, the more he/she makes
[sunny] misskitty05 I had not heard there was a cap on the VND. Do you remember, who, where you got the info?
[sunny] paradisegirl Hey, that is good information to know. Thank you.
[misskitty05] paradisegirl totally agree with that. I will never used a commission based financial consultant
[misskitty05] sunny someone on here with IMF connection said that...don't recall who it was...take it for what it's worth
[misskitty05] BigB that's even better than percentage if you can get that
[misskitty05] So what other perks are you all asking for?
[jjwaynec] paradisegirl you are right and that gives your financial person incentive to make you big profits.
[BigB] paradisegirl I was in the financial market for a while, those guys always get a chunk of the action - win or lose. We always pay. Any person involved with my finances will be paid by his performance - or lack of performance will cause him to be terminated
[misskitty05] BigB so even with a flat fee, there is an incentive... they get to keep your business!
[paradisegirl] BigB misskitty05 but think about this - with a flat fee, the planner has no incentive to grow your portfolio, like he would with the percentage fee based.
[BigB] misskitty05 Bingo!
[jjwaynec] BigB the big question is how long before they are terminated and have you as the investor already lost a big portion.
[misskitty05] paradisegirl he has an incentive if he wants to keep your business
[paradisegirl] jjwaynec yes, just keeping one's business isn't incentive, in my book.
[paradisegirl] misskitty05 well, to each his own.
[BigB] paradisegirl His pay and performance is his incentive.
[prissynell] I will deposit my funds and wait a month before I go in and do anything to the accts
[misskitty05] paradisegirl well as I see it, getting my business is a privilege not an entitlement
[misskitty05] paradisegirl you make a good point
[BigB] paradisegirl You set up a pay structure based on specific paramneters
[paradisegirl] misskitty05 agreed, but I still believe he/she will work harder if they know their income goes up, too.
[BigB] misskitty05 Bingo again!
[jjwaynec] paradisegirl it is like being a laborer for a Company. "I am here everyday and even though my work habits aren't better, I am still here everyday so pay me and give me a raise!" Keeping your business is the farhest from their mind.
BigB] misskitty05 You have to start thinking as a successful business person. You will have a tremendous responsibility to maintain and grow your newly acquired assets. I look at it as my new "big business".
[paradisegirl] misskitty05 BigB well, kids we can agree to disagree. The important thing is that we are all vigilant and stay involved with our planners.
BigB] misskitty05 Start with a small base but put the hooks in where the person is rewarded a percentage of the gains. This would allow him an oportunity to make a lot of money if he does good for you. If he doesn't perform, replace him. Make sure you look at his references and call them.
[BigB] paradisegirl One has to remember who is the boss. This is not government where the servants actually become the masters.
[paradisegirl] jjwaynec exactly! and with the fee-based planner, you can eliminate all other fees, except the transaction fee.
[paradisegirl] BigB Amen
[paradisegirl] BigB misskitty05 I have a close friend who was born into wealth, great family. I have learned a lot from them, especially that you have to be vigilant, and they have semi-annual meetings w/ all their advisors together - CPA, attorneys, planners, etc.
[BigB] paradisegirl You are lucky. Most of us have never known any one with money like that. You will have to pass on all the info for the rest of us. Thank you.
[paradisegirl] BigB my friend and her family don't hesitate to fire a professional that they are unhappy with. Like you said, you are in the driver's seat
[BigB] I think that we are all lucky this didn't pop last year as we are all far more prepared for this happening than we were a year ago. It is going to be a huge paradyme shift for each of us. One day we are basic people chasing the buck... the next day we are wealthy and must conduct ourselves as such.
[jjwaynec] ALWAYS REMEMBER ' It is easier losing it than making it'. It is a business just making sure your money does exactly as you want.
[paradisegirl] jjwaynec Yes! Vigilance will be our "job"!!
[blueblaze1962] jjwaynec good point, we all need to pay very close attention to what we do with our blessing so that we can continue to bless and be blessed for a very long time
