Several days ago, I reported on the difficulty I had encountered in trying to make a reservation at The Greenbrier Hotel, a secluded luxury resort, a short drive from DC, in the hills of West Virginia. First, just a quick recap for those who may not have seen the earlier post:
The woman at the Reservations Desk politely told me that nope -- they were completely filled up -- out of the hundreds of rooms in the main house and numerous guest cottages scattered around the estate, there was absolutely nothing available until Aug 5. "Well heck, we're so busy tending to everyone's needs that we felt we couldn't even afford to let our hired help go home in the evenings. We've got 'em doubled up in broom closets and cots out on the veranda. We're filled up mister. That's all there is to it."

When I pressed for more information, she went on to tell me there were "some sort of important business meetings going on," with guests from everywhere . . . "even got quite a few from Europe." And no, don't even think about trying to just drop by to see if they had any last minute cancellations or early departures, because unfortunately, "that was something security just wouldn't allow." On the other hand, if I could wait until Sunday, "everyone would have gone home and I could have the whole place to myself."
Well hell, what am I supposed to do with that sort of information? I mean, given today's climate of cloak and dagger secrecy with all of these back room meetings and alley way discussions about what it's going to take to push this RV on out, I thought surely someone can shed some light on what's going on. And that's when I thought about Tony and Gary and even Viper1.
Word has it that related meetings were also going on in Brussels and DC. I figured that if anyone could fill in some of the blanks, it would be those guys. So what happens? I posted a question to all three on the PTR chat room on Tuesday. No response ... from anyone. Then during the time I was trying unsuccessfully to call in on their Wed. afternoon program, all that happened was that I found text messages were being scrambled and emails not going thru. But that was just coincidence, I'm sure.
I know, I know, I should probably stop now. Gotta be getting close to something I'm not supposed to know about, or things wouldn't be getting twitchy, like they are. SOMETIMES EVEN NO RESPONSE IS STILL A RESPONSE. And so I'll back off. But,. . . that doesn't stop me from wondering. And until someone writes, calls, or pays me a visit to tell me otherwise, this is how I can imagine the story playing out:
"DEEP IN THE BUNKER UNDER THE WEST VIRGINIA WING OF THE GREENBRIER HOTEL, THE BIGGEST POKER GAME IN HISTORY IS WRAPPING UP. WHO'VE YOU GOT SITTING AROUND THE POKER TABLE? POWER AND OLD MONEY -- CENTRAL BANKS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS AND SOME OF THE WEALTHIEST, MOST POWERFUL FAMILIES IN THE WORLD. SO WHY ARE THEY HERE? THEY REALLY HAVE NO CHOICE, BECAUSE THEY FINALLY SEE THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL.
THEY REALIZE THAT THE FIAT BASED MONETARY SYSTEM THAT HAS ALLOWED THEM TO STAY IN POWER FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS IS FINALLY COMING TO AN END. THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO KEEP THIS DAY FROM COMING ABOUT, AND THEY'RE FAILING. SO NOW THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO MOVE ON TO THE GRAND PLAN "B". WHICH INVOLVES HELPING ONE ANOTHER TO DO WHAT THEY CAN, TRYING TO MINIMIZE THE TREMENDOUS LOSSES THEY WILL OTHERWISE BE FACING.
RIGHT NOW, EACH OF THESE PARTIES SITTING AROUND THE TABLE HAS TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN BAD DEBT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CARRYING. THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE UNBELIEVABLE PR0FITS OFF OF UNBELIEVABLE DEBTS. UP TO THIS POINT, THIS IS WHAT HAS ALLOWED THEM TO STAY IN POWER. BUT IN THE NEW ASSET BASED SYSTEM TOWARD WHICH WE ARE MOVING, HAVING ALL THIS DEBT IS SUDDENLY GOING TO REALLY MEAN SOMETHING, AND IS GOING TO BE A HUGE LIABILITY. SO THEY'RE TRYING TO WHITTLE IT DOWN -- WHICH IS PRECISELY WHY THEY ARE NOW INVOLVED IN THIS HIGH STAKES POKER GAME.
ONLY THEY'RE NOT PLAYING WITH POKER CHIPS, BUT BAD PAPER, BAD DEBT. IF YOU FORGIVE SO MUCH OF MINE, I'LL FORGIVE A LITTLE OF YOURS. WELL OK, IF YOU'LL THROW IN A CERTAIN PIPELINE AND MAYBE ASSAD AT THE SAME TIME, YOU MAY HAVE A DEAL. WE GO BACK AND FORTH, ROUND AND ROUND, UNTIL ALL PARTIES ARE SATISFIED THAT THEY HAVE MADE THE BEST THEY CAN OUT OF A SITUATION THEY NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD END UP IN.

ON THE OTHER HAND, MAYBE I AM GETTING PRETTY CLOSE. I GUESS WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE BOOK TO COME OUT TO GET THE REST OF THE STORY. AFTER ALL, IT'S BEEN 102 YEARS SINCE THE LAST BOOK WAS WRITTEN.
