[winalot] "In terms of the impact, this is about as bad as it gets," Moore said.

[winalot] The Java plug-in has become a favorite of criminals looking to hijack PCs for botnets and to steal personal data, credit card numbers and online banking credentials. A large number of computers are infected through drive-by-downloads on compromised websites, which are typically infected through Web exploit tool kits.

[sammyb] I have read that, by being in the chat room, does that put our computers at risk?

[winalot] sammyb your computor is at risk at any website that uses java

These people have been saying the same thing stringing people along. Everyone should take each "rumor" with a grain of salt. When the rv comes you'll be alerted, don't let anyone fool you with their "inside info" half the time they can't even answer questions about their info.

All this YAK from Flashing and Winalot neither one spoke of the parliament budget because they feel this can be over ride. Flashing and Winalot is full of words on sight, only believes what they sees... Even the USA needed a budget to get this flowing in our country.. Listen to the Mystery Wife and Ocrush because their words does not include alot of guessing . As for Cisco411 the follower of Flashing even if this 747 was proven to you , you still will have no understanding of why. Stick to the BUDGET

I disabled my JAVA in FireFox and was able to do everything I usually do on the internet through FireFox. Even my banking and games I play once in a while. I haven't had any problems so far.

How to Disable Java in Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer 8/9/10, & Firefox.

[Chrome]

Type "chrome://plugins" into your address bar. This will bring up a new tab. Find the item on the list that reads just plain "Java" and click below it where it says "Disable" in blue. Restart your browser.

[Safari]

Choose "Safari" and then "Preferences" on the taskbar or hit control and comma simultaneously (⌘-,). Click "Security" on the top row of the new window. Uncheck the box that reads "Enable Java" if checked. Restart your browser.

[Internet Explorer 8,9, and 10]

Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Manage Add-ons." Go to the left of the window that pops up and in the drop-down box below the heading "Show:" select "All Add-ons." Scroll down the list on the right of the window until you find a subheading under the category "Group" that reads "Oracle America, Inc." Select each item and disable it with the "Disable" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window. Restart your browser.

[Firefox]

Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Add-ons" or hit ctrl, shift, and the letter 'a' simultaneously. Select "Plug-ins" on the left-hand side of the new tab that shows up. Scroll the list on the right-hand side of the screen until you find an item that reads "Java (TM) Platform [somethingsomethingsomething]." Click the "Disable" button on the right. Restart your browser.
