Inside the City Rising Up from the Ground in Iraq
Korean entrepreneurs are funding the construction of a massive $8 billion city in Iraq.
rissas dad someone emailed this to me. Iraq obviously has major issues but it is curious even though they are broke and disfunctional, partially invaded and seemingly unable to do anything of consequence, there is something like this.......
KJWayne MAN, that was a good video. My wife said that with them putting that can of money into it (IRAQ) , it has GOT to work. I like what the man said , "ISIS will be defeated "! Thank you for sharing this ! I feel safe with our investment! :D
Swimmer Holy shootskis! This should get all of our attentions Swimmer
rissas dad Couple thoughts. How are they able to keep security of this area so construction can proceed? What a strong message daash could send by taking over this "new iraq" and occupying it or destroying it as a symbol.
Kidnapping workers and holding them ransom. Know that daash is more interested in civilian terror and deaths than property destruction but it would be a stout message.
Also the Iraqi suit interviewed stated this is planned for "all the provices". That really got my attention. They plan to be prosperous and advance the country at some point. It may be longer-term than we all think but eventually they will get to a point where the country wont be (or appear to be) in such chaos. There is a future prosperous plan for Iraq, this video proves this.
G-Lin Very encouraging. Thanks rd for posting.
Chasting Wow, very cool. It appears this new city housing 600k folks has been in the works for some time. Clearly it will cost money to live and play here. They got a plan. Funny how they keep these things out of the news though. ISIS pppffft.... IMO staged occupancy so we have a reason to chase them out and into Syria where the next Assad prize is waiting. Never did buy in to ISIS/Daash.
Preacher Man When I saw them laying loose bricks for sidewalks, Im thinking they better have security under control, Flying Bricks,,Duck
KJWayne Oh Preacher ,, ducks fly , not bricks ! ha ha ha  All jokes aside , this gives me hope that INDEED we are close to better things out of Iraq. I caught that too about one in ALL counties of Iraq . "counties " , now thats country!
Fred Thanks for bringing the video RD. While I was there in '05 Irbil, Dahuk and lots of areas to the north were flourishing. Primarily Kurdish controlled areas. Security was the reason.
While there were car bombs daily in the rest of Iraq, Kurdistan was very quiet. Lots of the locals who worked with us had already sent their families north and were saving money so they could join them up there. Can you imagine what "could be"?
Lots of folks fall back on the "they've been killing each other for thousands of years" argument. I believe this time is different. As evil as I believe tv to be, the Iraqis have tv free of government intervention now.
They have NEVER had this before. They can see first hand what the rest of the world has and it gives them hope that they can have it too. Don't get me wrong, they have a long way to go.
But I believe they have the best opportunity to date to get it right. If we had just kept a small force in place to keep things like isis from coming in.... Can you imagine where they and we could be now.
KJWayne Fred, thanks for your input on this piece. It means alot for me from someone that has been there!
Aloha Alex Further evidence that the media, here & there, is constamtly lying by omission. You can watch the BBC, Fox, and CNN...and still be chronically lied to. Thanks RD. By the way, if you wait till the commercials are done at the end of an episode, another revealing report ensues with more good info. The second report brings you, for the first time, inside the US control room monitoring Iraq 24/7.
Chasting Wow...Bismayah is rollin! Be sure to look at the photo gallery.=) Very Happy to see this but angry at our media for hiding it so long. US living rooms been filled with negative news...whats the harm in sharing this succesful story? Anywho... enjoy!
skylimit Again more revealed, record oil production, new city construction, modern ISX - banking system, rebuilt relationships with other ME countries and global financial entities (i.e. BIS. WB, IMF, etc.) and a new government with a to-be-named permanent CBI governor. Someone is the focal point of moving all this progress forward while news articles would have you believe the situation is hopeless. We are very, very close!
Chasting: I most certainly agree SL=)
Rockstar Wow now that is truly unbelievable great post RD!
DreamWeaver Wow. Now that's a development.
Three points I love:
1) 100,000 homes, as part of 1 MILLION housing project in all provinces. (900,000 more to follow!)
2) ISIS will be defeated.
3) Iraq has very bright future--economic potential. 8)
Ted So who's paying for all this?
DreamWeaver Ted ... there you go, being PRACTICAL. :P LOL. Best ~ DW

JD Blue On Bismayah.. OOTW wrote: THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME- MALIKI AND HIS GOONS STOLE THE MONEY SET ASIDE FOR IT.
Phillyman JD, I am curious about the comment from OOTW. Did he say anything else? It is not far fetched to believe Maliki has stolen money from Iraq but this project is on going today and does not appear in jeopardy.
I would think that the Korean firm is receiving money not just IOUs. Some housing units are ready the end of this year. What does he mean the money set aside for this was stolen?
