Post Brought From Currency Chatter
Laura: A part of me hesitates to even post this here, and yet, after my friend sent this to me several days ago.... believe it must be shared. Rebvo, I agree with you.
I received the below from my physician, who's wife is an internationally acclaimed artist. Her artist friend from Israel sent her the following.... very sobering.. captures a feeling none of the news sources convey.>>>>.>>>>
“ It has taken me some days to write down something coherent… but this is how I feel tonight.
I feel like I weigh 500 pounds. Everyone I know feels like they are walking through water.
And sad. We are all so very, very sad. This is what I know right now, today:
The ugliness, the venom and sheer, violent hatred you are seeing in Paris, London, Berlin, LA, Boston, Denver…. this is just the beginning.
We Jews are the canaries in the coal mine for all of humanity. Today, they are throwing bricks at synagogues and smashing chairs and saying “Kill the Jews.” Tomorrow it will be someone else.
Do the French really think these people will protect and safeguard the treasures of the Louvre?
Do Londoners really think these people will cherish the symbols of the British Empire?
Does anyone really think this is only about Israel and the disputed territories?
Today it is Israel, tomorrow it will be you.
Maybe that is why everyone gets so disproportionately annoyed about this conflict. Because everyone knows after us it gets real personal…
Seeing these violent protests, hearing the sickening screams for death we Israelis understand better than ever we must fight for every square inch and with all we have.
It matters not how much better our military is, how much more precise our targets can be.
It only matters that when the smoke clears Hamas is disarmed, destroyed, disabled and defeated. Forever.
Hamas. NOT the people of Gaza. I feel so very sorry for them. Sorry they were misguided and elected these lunatics.
Sorry that in their desperation they allowed Hamas to fill the empty bedrooms next to their children’s room with rockets.
Sorry that their leaders have mansions and swimming pools and are sitting in air conditioning in another city while they are sweating and wondering where the roof over their houses went. (If not their house itself.)
Sorry that they have been brought up with no inkling of who Israelis are nor what compromise is.
Defeating Hamas will be a big problem for the power brokers because shame and honor are all that matter in this part of the world.
Honor in the Middle East does not come from whether your children are literate, how successful you are, how much money you make, how civilized your community is, nor how many paved roads you have, and whether or not you have garbage collection and recycling.
Here in this part of the world- for Hamas, honor comes from getting revenge.
For them revenge is everything. For them revenge is the only thing.
Remember we left Gaza. There was no blockade. They were free to build a model democracy- the first successful shining, taste of the new, proud Palestine. But they didn’t want that kind of success…
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We will not be fooled again.
We have nowhere else to go. And the rockets won’t stop.
The folks in Ashkelon cannot shower, have a bowel movement, get more milk or walk a dog without wondering if they are taking their lives in their own hands. There is another Gaza underneath Gaza.
Hamas could have built hundred of schools, paved thousands of roads, build hundreds of kindergartens with the cement and iron they have used to build these underground bunkers and tunnels.
( and you wondered why Israel put a blockade on bringing building supplies into the Gaza strip?)
These tunnels to hell are filled with ammunition. And no women or children, not a single elderly person is brought to safety there.
They want them on the street- on the roof, standing right behind- nice and close to the terrorist firing the rocket.
Hamas has refused to let journalists out of Gaza.
They need them to take pictures and record the carefully staged piles of bloody children and women. If the journalists leave they have lost the vehicle for distributing their bloody ad campaign.
Hamas asked for a cease-fire. And they broke it. They break every single one.
Israel is setting up a massive field hospital to treat our enemies. From 8 pm on tonight there will be a working maternity ward, an operating theater…a working hospital. For… our enemies.
We are going to lose more boys. Last night we lost 13. With each day we are going to lose more.
But everyone here now understands this is a fight to the death. It is them or us.
They cannot compromise and they don’t want peace or to share or to negotiate. They want revenge even if it means killing their own people. So we have to go in there and do things none of us want to do, but we have to.
So this is why we are all so sad. Israelis want peace so badly.
But we also desperately want to live. We love life and we are not about to let anyone, let alone a bunch of deranged thugs take it away from us. So yes, this is a fight to the death for both sides.
Remember, if they win, you are next.
If we win those symbols of civilization that everyone takes so for granted will remain standing and everyone will criticize and complain about disproportionate responses and war crimes and all kinds of other irrelevant nonsense, but secretly I think everyone will be heaving s sigh of relief.”

Fred: Thanks Laura, what an insight into the mind of the Israeli's. It is so easy to get caught up in the media's "take" on the situation on the ground. How many times have they reported that the israeli's were treating injured palastinians? Never.
In their haste to make "religion" look bad they leave out little facts. Facts... Emotion.... those are the difference in common sense and stupidity. Too bad so many of us get caught up in emotion. It will cost us dearly
Laura: Thank you, Fred, for caring about...people. Sometimes I think people with eyes to see...cannot.
Oldwazhisname: I was just there 8 weeks ago. Seeing it first hand only allows you to partially understand what this person is trying to convey. I witnessed first hand the peoples of both sides of this.
The Jews were sweet people just trying to survive. The Palistinian people are probably just as sweet but there was a palpable edge to their situation.
I saw first hand the palatial mansions built by wealthy Palestinians in Rammallah, the city where their government functions. These were probably the homes of Palestinian leaders.
I saw the many Arab towns and villages of the country. I caught a glimpse and came away totally supporting what Israel has to do to survive.
Diana: Thank you Laura for posting this. America better wake up and stand up.
This "PC" situation has made the country and the people weak and pliable which was the plan to start with. I do feel sorry for the Palestians, I think they are pawns, but at some point you have to say no we won't be pawns in your death game. Israel is a very tiny country and I'm astounded by the hate they deal with. Whoever goes against Israel will be severly punished, everyone should think about that.
Schiz: Yeah this is a sad story, all Israel has ever wanted was peace, all they ever get is attacked!
Every battle that has taken place, every ceasefire, they have done the honourable thing and in return they get rockets fired at them.
Such a horrible sickening situation for them, to be a peaceful nation but to have a big horrible thug as your next door neighbour making youre life hell. I hope the Israeli's wipe them our once and for good!
Revbo: Well said, Diana, and thanks, Laura. I don't think you're going to find a lot of disagreement here because, for some reason, dinarians seem to mostly have clarity on the Palestinian/Israel situation, where a large percentage of our population believes the propaganda that the Palestinians are just innocent victims of Israeli aggression.
What they always fail to see, and I believe it is willfull blindness, is if the Palestinians stopped randomly attacking Israeli civilians, there will be peace. If Israel were to unilaterrally decide never to protect its citizens again, the rocket fire would continue.
Sure, there are innocent Palestinians, but let's not forget, the Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas as their legitimate government; they are not being held hostage by Hamas. They were given a choice, and they elected terrorists.
Terrorists who use them as human shields, by the way, so one has to assume the civilian population, children excluded, of course, is okay with being used in such a way.
We see a similar situation, watching Iraq every day. The Sunni population hates Maliki so much, it is okay with, temporarily, at least, accepting the most vicious incarnation of Islamic terrorist since Mohammed, himself, walked the earth, and they risk losing their whole country to the Caliphate forever if this government-building takes too long.
danny griffin: laura, thanks for the glimpse into another world that so many think is not their problem. like the writer of the letter said, today it is them, tomorrow maybe us.
hamas, alquida, isis and any number of these islamic organizations don't just want to stop with israel. we are also infidels to them. does anyone still remember 911. i do feel sorry for the poor people of gasa, as well as the innocent israel's that have been killed or wounded.
we are very lucky to have been born in america with our luxury and the freedoms we enjoy. we should never get too complacent though, because there are a lot of people who hate us too. political correctness has run amuck.
people in america and all over the world demonstrating against the jews. our country as well as the rest of the world had better wake up and quit electing these liberals who view the world in glasses without lenses.
look at how many holy shrines the isis have destroyed in iraq. if they were here, they would be trying to destroy all our monuments and churches and our cemeteries where our military and own loved ones are buried.
we live in a world that have people who don't like us and really don't respect life. they think they can kill us infidels and go to heaven and enjoy all those virgins. how can these liberals support people like this and say we are wrong to be leary of them and if we are, we have some kind of phobia.
my heart and prayers go out to the innocent jews and those palestinians in the gaza who are also innocent.
my prayers also go out for america and other countries who just don't get that we are as much the enemies of hamas as the jews are. we need to quit letting the liberals in this country take away our right to have religious symbols and references to god wherever we want.
if the liberals don't want to support god that is their right. we will see in the end though, who was right.
we have to stop letting the liberals disarm our country and make us easy targets for sick elements like isis or hamas, or someday we will be destroyed and in the future if someone walks in our country, they may find no signs of who we even were. everything that shows our good and allegiance to our christian ethics may be gone. god help us all. sorry i rambled..
Fishtard: DG. That is their plan. Mohammed was a homocidal maniac, but he was not stupid.
How do you negotiate with a religious culture that teaches from birth to annihilate all Christians, and Jews, not necessarily in that order? The Jews believe life is for the living.
the adversary teaches that it is more glorious to die for Mohammed than to live a life of peace. It's a no win situation for a peaceful culture. In a 'previous life' I was real 'serious', and this ongoing madness was a part.
The jihadists have nothing to lose (except for their life, see above), and everything to gain. Makes you sick. The lady quoted held back.
Larry: The Muslims in the Middle East have a saying "the Saturday People first & then the Sunday people"....
BlueyesinLevis: The Israelis use rockets in the Iron Dome.. to protect their people.
-Hamas uses it's people to protect their rockets. -That about says it all.
Aloha Alex: Sometimes war is the answer. --You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips.
Tlar: Their leaders, Hamas, exist only because they have a perpetual "enemy" Israel.. These guys are nuts.
They also don't give a damn about the lives of their own people. Hamas is a terrorist organization pure and simple and should be eliminated pure and simple.
It is a tool of a like corrupt regime, Iran, and the aggression of Iran has been spawned by hatred of Jews. Since 1950 they have used Israel as a perpetual rallying cause. A perpetual enemy. It is the same for all dictatorial regimes.
They only exist as protectorates of their people by appearing to fight a perpetual enemy for their people.
Maliki tried unsuccessfully to do this in Iraq first by going after the Baathists using the terrorism laws, and finally calling all Sunni's terrorists.
Through the perpetual war these wanna be dictators justify their theft and crimes and derive power.
I include the Ayatola of Iran in this who has killed more of his own people trying to control thought in Iran than Stalin did in in Russia after World War II.
They get legitimacy through the death of others even if it is their own. Human life means nothing to these people. The propaganda war being waged in the press and internet is a prime example.
They are attempting to use the international community to their advantage when it is they that attacked Israel sending thousands of rockets to towns and villages in an unprovoked attack.
They are attempting to make the Jews look bad while the Jewish intent in crossing into Gaza was to stop Hamas from sending unprovoked rockets to Israel towns to kill as many Israel’s as possible. Liberals will eventually see Israel's response as unwarranted and too much calling on Israel to stop.
If I were in charge of Israel, I would pay no attention to the likes of John Kerry or our administration. I would make no peace, but rather finish these guys off (the leadership of Hamas) once and for all.
All tunnels, all munitions and everybody even associated with the leadership of Hamas, bankers associates etc., would be dealt with on this pass. How many times will this go on and have to be dealt with?
Were it me in charge of Israel, this would be the last time we would see this as a problem. There would no more Hamas.
But that's in a perfect world. School houses holding rockets, hospitals holding armaments, *** they are even using the UN building as places to store munitions, all would be dealt with this time.
It makes no difference to them about indiscriminant casualties. That makes for good press and propaganda to these guys. They love to show you how children reading the Koran on the school yard at recess were killed by Israelis never disclosing that they were hiding 200 rockets in the classroom..
Before this is over Israelis will be made out the bad guy either way, so gut up and finish the job. Then and only then will this be finally over.
The Israelis need to finish this. They are dealing with evil pure and simple.. They are dealing with people willing to put children in harms way just to get sympathy of the international community.
The leadership of Hamas doesn't belong on this earth anymore the leadership of ISIS. I say again, finish this before they get more arms from Iran and regroup, and make sure the whole infrastructure of Hamas is gone.
Stay the course and don't make peace. FINISH THE JOB SO THAT IT IS FINALLY OVER this time because if you don't, you will sign another truce until they regroup and rebuild and do it again in a year or two using even more sophisticated weapons while blaming you for atrocities anyway.
Sorry liberals but I know with what I speak. You have to remove all the cancer to make sure it won't reoccur.
Most of the time that is the hard road but you will have to face the same critics either way. Sometimes you just have to make that decision. "Damn those torpedoes, full steam ahead." Where is Ronald Reagan when you really need him? Conservative, tlar on this issue
