-Nothing about this ISIS insurgency makes sense, militarily, logistically, or how real world events unfold or more tellingly don't unfold. On a political level these events only superficially make sense.
-Maliki's term expired midnight before last. There really is no press about him. Some mention but not what you'd expect. Ding dong the witch is dead, blah blah, etc.
-Other than the alleged massacre of thousands of troops BY A FEW HUNDRED guys this has got to be the most peaceful insurgency in human history. A few hundred guys seize an entire city, and business goes on as usual?
-An article that 90% of businesses won't be affected by this. How is that even posible? Especially in light of the US media stating Iraq is on the verge of civil war.
-Then I saw an article today that ISIS is moving captured US equipment, up-armored Humvees and tanks to the Syrian border.
And suddenly it all clicked into place.
In my opinion as a historian and former military instructor of geo-politics, this really has nothing to do with Iraq per se.
-We haven't heard much in the press lately about the Syrian uprising. The US and our allies have said no to helping. But to stabilize the region and neighboring Iraq and Turkey (our ally) something must be done. -
