Have you checked your bank accounts lately?
According to Australia’s Herald Sun, the Australian government seized a record $360 million from ‘dormant’ household bank accounts in 2013 alone. A rule change in 2012, allowed the government to seize the money in some 80,000 accounts that had been dormant for three years. Prior to the change, just $330 million had been collected between 1959 and 2012.
While you might be wondering why you should care about a banking regulation in Australia, it turns out the practice is somewhat common in the United States as well.
He proceeded to go back and look at old statements he had received and, sure enough, there was language that explained the state of Pennsylvania could liquidate the account if there is no activity in a certain period of time.
“She started going through the statements, and on one statement, which was full of language, one sentence in one paragraph of that statement said, ‘If you have no activity on this account, we will close out this account, based on Pennsylvania law blah, blah, blah,’” Joe explained.
“What I don’t understand is dividends were being paid into this account. We were paying taxes on this money the whole time, yet because there was no activity for a six month period, the state of Pennsylvania took that money, without any notice to us.”
Joe and his wife got in touch with their state senator because they were so baffled by the policy and how either the bank or the state did not have to contact them before withdrawing the money.
“We went to our state senator and said, ‘This can’t be right. Our mailing address was accurate. The e-mail address was accurate. The phone number was right. How could this be inactive? Dividends are paid into the account,’” Joe said. “Well, under this new law, any account that you don’t log into in a six month period, that money is transferred to the state.”
The state of Pennsylvania confirmed that the money was transferred out the account because it was considered “unclaimed property.” Remarkably, however, the state was unable to tell them how much money was seized.

If you will remember yesterday D.C. said they decided not to do the PUBLIC rollout until the P.M. was seated etc..that doesn't mean the private exchanges have not been going which would mean Iraq RVd. We must remember they are going to be very hush hush about this whole thing. Just my thoughts!!

[BLESSME] Michaelweston are we close?
[MichaelWeston] BLESSME what I can say is that the news today is very good. I haven't heard anything bad from a credible source. (unless you count what ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and Fox have reported)
[MichaelWeston] all the junk reported is exactly that, JUNK
[BLESSME] Thanks! That's good news
[musiccitylady] MichaelWeston so, apparently Nothing of great importance is happening in Baghdad?
[musiccitylady] MichaelWeston cover up for rv ?
[MichaelWeston] musiccitylady that isn't what I said
[MichaelWeston] there is a lot going on, but the networks are not shouting it from the mountain top
[MichaelWeston] musiccitylady i won't comment on who I speak with, but look at the news and then step back and think about what you know about the country...
[musiccitylady] MichaelWeston Fox news is shouting that it is bad in Baghdad...... is it not of importance and we should ignore the reports from the news channels> In your opinion?
[MichaelWeston] look at Iraq and ask yourself where the resources are......oil fields in the north, shipping in the south, etc. Then look and see where they are reporting the acts by the 6000 or so insurgents
[MichaelWeston] I have never given a date, but i believe all things I am hearing leads me to think it could be VERY soon

Maliki's office lied common escape and called on citizens to not pay attention to these rumors, which indicated that it is seeking to undermine the morale of the citizens and combatants. Aggiedad77: Somehow I highly suspect that if Maliki did flee we would see people putting their weapons down and there would be sudden and intense dancing and celebrations in the streets all across Iraq.....just an opinion of mine....but I can definitely see that happening.....ok #1 make it so!!!
It is difficult to fathom the idea that Maliki actually thinks there are many people left in Iraq who believe in him or his abilities, they must be the same ones that put up.....oh never mind, don't want to get banned.
The news this afternoon has been rather "splattered" all over the place.....but one common theme seems to be a marked lack of anything political from the the other blocs and coalitions who before June 10 were making all kinds of noises....did they start Ramadan early? Or maybe they are part of the entourage that left for Brazil to watch the soccer games...wink...wink.
