Feb 15 11:50 AM [sonnayhwh] weaver that is why it is being said to hold the money in a Dodd Frank account, as they are reckoned in UST notes.
Feb 15 11:52 AM [Lady] sonnayhwh - Am I correct in my understanding that all FDIC non interest bearing checking accounts are Frank Dodd accounts?
Feb 15 11:52 AM [sonnayhwh] weaver as the noseets valued in FR notes are devalued during the next few months, the UST notes in the Dodd Frank accounts will retain value.
Feb 15 11:53 AM [sonnayhwh] Lady. NO, must designate as such. Don't take for granted.
11:55 AM [sonnayhwh] This is only through the transition...
11:55 AM [sonnayhwh] Other option is certain foreign currencies.
11:58 AM [sonnayhwh] FR note backed noseets will be devalued during transition to UST notes, Dodd Frank accounts will not as law currently stands.
12:00 PM [TxBorn] sonnayhwh where do you get the dodd frank accts, from banks or brokerage firms?
12:02 PM [sonnayhwh] D-F accounts must be offered where FDIC is in place. Talk to tax at the. Must go, SHALOM!
12:04 PM [dinargram2] The FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) is an independent agency of the United States government that protects you against the loss of your deposits if an FDIC-insured bank or savings noseociation fails. FDIC insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.
12:05 PM [dinargram2] Since the FDIC's creation in 1933, no depositor has ever lost even one penny of FDIC-insured deposits.
12:07 PM [dinargram2] From December 31, 2010 through December 31, 2012, all non interest-bearing transaction accounts are fully insured, regardless of the balance of the account and the ownership capacity of the funds. This coverage is available to all depositors, including consumers, businesses, and government entities.
12:07 PM [..TS] OK so what about brokerage accounts? Are they also covered under the Dodd Frank Act?
12:08 PM [ngodstrust] ..TS Morgan Stanley has a US Treasury Charter
12:08 PM [ngodstrust] so they would be covered
12:09 PM [missionary] Edward Jones insures their money market accounts in house up to 500k and then balance is insured by blanket LLyods of London policy the company hold
12:18 PM [ajob] I just had a very long conversation with my bank , WF, about the TAG program and they knew nothing about it.
They connected me with WF's Treasury management dept and after a long conversation with them they came up with nothing. At this point I call the FDIC and found this.
The TAG program and Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program have been discontinued . At this point ANY Non Interest bearing account is covered with unlimited FDIC protection through the "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protect Act".
So if you go into your bank to set up a TAG account you may be met with blank faces. If you go to this website you can print out this document and show it to the personal banker that you set up your account with to make sure they know what is is that they are setting up for you.

1:59 PM [..CAP1] Starting December 31, 2010 through December 31, 2012: NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS
All funds in a "non interest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012.
This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the Dick's general deposit insurance rules.
The term "non interest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest.
It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts ("IOLTAs"). It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, and money-market deposit accounts.
For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.fdic.gov.

1:30 PM [dhw] CAP1 Good afternoon! Please help!! Is a TAG account and a regular non interest bearing account the same thing??
1:34 PM [..CAP1] dhw - A REGULAR NON INTEREST BEARING ACCOUNT COULD BE A CHECKING ACCOUNT.
1:33 PM [all41] hi Cap , I am not here to discourage , but I am discouraged because WF just told me they will not deal with dinar at this time , and this person is a high level employee . Maybe they just are not in the loop on knowledge , but they said they just met with foreign currency rep , no plan for IQD
1:36 PM [..CAP1] all41 - Maybe they just are not in the loop on knowledge . BELIEVE ME, HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.

1:40 PM [..CAP1] PLEASE NOTE: Recent amendments to the FDI Act provide full deposit insurance coverage for non interest-bearing transaction accounts and IOLTAs beginning December 31, 2010, for a two-year period.
This section applies to all insured depository institutions and, unlike the FDIC's TLGP program, no opt outs are permitted and low-interest NOW accounts are not covered.
There is no separate noseessment applicable on these covered accounts but all institutions will be required to report qualifying accounts beginning on December 31, 2010, for purposes of quantifying the FDIC's exposure under this program.
As a result of these amendments, the FDIC has decided to not extend its TAG program which will end on December 31, 2010. For more information on these provisions, please read the Final Rule to implement this coverage.
2:04 PM [sandytob] ..TS And now the private banker I s/w on the phone at WF is saying that in his experience, the non interest bearing accounts are for businesses and not personal accounts. He will check it and get back to me.
2:07 PM [..CAP1] sandytob - I SAW WHERE YOU'RE WISHING THAT JONNY WAS AT 3'S SO YOU COULD ASK HIM ABOUT BUSINESS VS PERSONAL ACCOUNTS BEING COVERED UNDER THE UNLIMITED FDIC PROVISION. I JUST GAVE YOU THE DEFINITION..
