After his accession to the external Shahristani receives his Egyptian counterpart
So the Kurds have backed away from their government offices, including that of President and Maliki appears for once to be acting in haste, by putting in replacements, for example Shahristani replacing Zebari as Foreign Minister....well by proxy at this point....that tells me that maybe Maliki is a little unsure of his footing at this point.....Zebari is a Kurd.
Maliki's allies in the crossfire veterans
In reading this article one would surely think that the Iraqi deck is certainly stacked against Maliki at this juncture.....what can the weasel have up his sleeve that has yet to be seen.....I might be able to balance an elephant on a good day, but could never throw one
that is about how far I trust Maliki at this point in time.....yes he is a known entity....but does a two time loser warrant yet another chance in the game....to me....it makes no sense.....as some in the article state his presence will certainly bring about a continued divide between Shiites, Sunni's, and Kurds....with his appointments today that certainly seems to be the case.....if there is yet another postponement from Parliament on Sunday.....can you blame anyone but Maliki for it at this point.
Al-Bayati: the budgets of 2014 and 2015, will be integrated into one basket
Combining the 2014 and 2015 budgets can't be a good thing.....IMO....it would mean operating the rest of 2014 without a budget....as it will take them the remainder of 2014 to get anything close to ready for 2015....just from past history....where in the world can they be getting this idea from.....IMO....Maliki needs to go to get this budget process moving at all....that seems to be a given to me.
A source tells the "Qurtas News," the story of the seizure of oil fields of Kirkuk
It is being reported that Peshmerga forces have now occupied the six oil fields around Kirkuk...this movement comes to protect these fields from being overrun....three of which provide vital natural gas to fuel power plants in Kirkuk and are seen as vital to be held....what the troops have done is kick out any Turkmen and Arab operators and left Kurd operators to manage the operations....it sounds like to me....they could be getting ready for the return of the Iraqi army rather than any issue with ISIS or other insurgents.
Maliki fills Kurdish Ministry posts in Baghdad
Maliki continues to rub salt into the wounds of the Kurds by replacing Ministry posts that were vacated by the Kurds yesterday....he has appointed Shahristani to replace Zebari as Foreign Minister.....I would suspect that he has a name in mind to replace Deputy Prime Minister Shaways as well. The Kurds response.....Maliki should resign...that he has gone mad.
United States: We want non-sectarian government!
We aren't telling you "who" gets what job....but we are saying that we "want" a non-sectarian government....no ifs ands or buts about it....the US expects to see all Iraqis represented in the new government....Jordan and VP Biden agree that the Iraqis need to bring together their people in a united government that can beat back the threat from the terrorists DAASH.
Kurds withdraw support, leaving Iraq without a president
The Kurds have completely backed away from key government ministry positions....this appears to be giving Maliki an opportunity to step up hurriedly to the plate and offer some replacements....but at the same time the Kurds are denouncing Maliki and saying that he is just making attempts to throw blame away from himself by pointing fingers at others....hmmmm that sounds familiar....the Kurds pulled away after Maliki's weekly address on Wednesday accused them of harboring ISIS members and other insurgents in Erbil....it would seem that Maliki is completing the circle of factions who are completely against him as an individual and against him as further serving as PM for Iraq.
Zebari: Minister Kurds stopped their participation in the government completely
Iraqi Foreign Minister Zebari, a Kurd announced that the Kurds who serve in ministry positions have completely stepped away from their duties....suspending any participation in the government activities by them....this is just widening the chasm that already exists between Maliki and the Kurds....Maliki continues to be a stinker.
The Ministry of Industry announces start applying the Law on the Protection of Iraqi products
The Ministry of Industry announces the reapplication of the Law of Protection for Iraqi Products.....not only will this serve to protect the goods that are manufactured within Iraq, it also serves to protect the Iraqi citizen too.....preventing monopoly, and will contribute to the application of the Tariff Law.....personnel are receiving training that will allow them to implement the law and provide protections to Iraqi industry and also to invite investment brokers to bring in opportunities that will help in raising the GDP ceiling.
Fallujah preachers calling for the trial of al-Maliki, crimes against humanity
Religious leaders in and around Fallujah are claiming that Maliki needs to be tried by an international court for crimes against humanity....they see him as the dictator of the times......claiming he has committed genocide, murder, and caused the displacement of thousands.
Kurdistan Alliance: Maliki may come as a refugee is also to Erbil
According to at least one Kurd it is believed that Maliki's accusations towards Erbil this week are stemming from the fact that he may finally be getting the sense that he truly is out of power.....this is largely felt due to Maliki failing to get any political blocs to renew any of his mandates......he is seen as a sole individual who thinks he is in power at the moment....not a good thing.....more of his troops, upwards of 200,000 have allegedly given way to a far smaller force they faced....this has to weigh heavily upon Maliki from a psychological stand point.....Erbil the city that Maliki accuses of harboring Baathists and other terrorists has become a melting pot of many religious factions from other areas of Iraq due largely to people being displaced.
Jihad: Kirkuk's oil revenues of more than a billion and a million dollars and stop loss because of the Peshmerga of Iraq
The Federal Oil Ministry is again threatening the Kurds and specifically the Peshmerga for their recent movement into the Kirkuk oil fields.....the Kurds say this is an act to protect the integrity of the fields but the Feds do not see it as such and threaten the Kurds about violating the Iraqi Constitution....the revenues from the fields that are now in Peshmerga possession total $1.1 billion dollars a month.....one can see why the Feds are more than mildly upset at the Kurds at this point.....I shake my head at the Feds who obviously do not have the means themselves to protect the fields or they would have already done so.....the oil fields would be a great catch for ISIS at this point of the game, adding to what they have already claimed in Syria.....more political pushing and shoving.
The International Energy: oil production Kurdistan region increased by 50% during the month of June
