UN begins huge aid drop in Iraq
The UN is bringing into Erbil over 100 tons of tents, cooking equipment and such things that are needed by displaced Iraqis now located in the Kurdistan.....over 1.2 million Iraqis have fled their homes in front of Islamic State terrorist activities in northern and western Iraq....US fighters and bombers continue to strike IS targets with pinpoint accuracy.....others are also providing aid to Iraq as they can.
Facts fixed and tricks exposed in the file of oil between Iraq and the provincial government ........................... Judge Abdul Sattar Ramadan
This complicated article is an attempt to show just how complicated the constitutional process is within Iraq for dealing with oil and gas transactions and also what has transpired between Maliki's government and the Kurds since January 2014.
Part of the issue at hand is that the HCL is not fully implemented and thus causes conflict.....some parts of the law date back to Saddam's rule and thus add to the confusion....passing the HCL would surely clear the air to a large degree.....will it resolve all the issues, I doubt it....at least not for the Kurds.....or to their intended satisfaction.
Krauthammer: Debate over American boots on the ground in Iraq a 'red herring'
"Boots on the ground" are they there now....what is the answer....IMO....the answer is a definite YES....there are boots on the ground....now what they might be called...."advisors" is to me the real red herring here......those advisors are being very quiet and stealthy in their actions.....makes me want to start thinking Special Forces.....Special Ops.....and what are their duties....again a big secret at this point.
Washington: Daash war in Iraq may be long-term and eliminate them in attacking Syria
A terrorist organization that our own JCS is labeling as being more dangerous than al-Qaeda.....does not sound like the Junior Varsity (JV) that has been shared with the press recently....this threat is real....and in addition it is real well organized....to win against this type of group will take time and it will require money to feed the machine doing the fighting.....good luck in chasing these barbarians.
STANDARD CHARTERED: IRAQ ENJOYS GREAT INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Standard and Chartered is pushing Iraq for a paradise of investment opportunities....not just because they have offices there but because Iraq is truly a mecca for investors.....they are also working to help the 600 or so private bank branches across the country to improve their growth and development and to bring them up to more modern methods of doing business.
EXPERTS: PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE IS ABLE TO SETTLE THE FINANCIAL SITUATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW
No doubt that a bunch of money has been spent on displaced citizens this year....or it was at least ear-marked to go in that direction....who knows where it truly ended up....economic "experts" are getting good at saying many things, but they don't have any skin in the game and IMO.....their words are often meaningless....more of what they think the media and politicians want to hear.....this article is not really any different.....bottom line...the Speaker of Parliament has given the temporary finance committee two weeks to finalize things that they may recommend for going forward with some semblance of a budget for the remainder of 2014.....what that will be.....who knows....but hopefully something more realistic than was presented for the past 8 months.
Fayad calls to speed up the approval of oil and gas law
Now is this not the pot calling the kettle black.....the State of Law calling to speed up the approval of the oil and gas law.....what happened to "Slow Everything Down" Maliki.....this is new and makes me shake my head.....their rhetoric sounds oh so liberally familiar....."with the best of intentions".....and...."a sense of responsibility to the Iraqi citizens".....oh please I almost choked typing those words.....what a sham.....just another way for an MP to get his name in the media.
Baghdad military bases at the disposal of American planes
Baghdad is offering up military air bases for American airplanes in order to give them more time over targets of opportunity, but it seems that obama is resistant to this at this point....probably because it would mean putting more "boots" on the ground in the way of maintenance and refueling crews....something he is a bit sensitive about at this point in the conflict....appearing to reignite something that "he"...."put to bed" in 2011.....so in the meantime the planes will continue to work off of the deck of the George H.W. Bush carrier in the Gulf.
In the State of Corruption: taxi overnight stays in MP Rasheed 200 000 dinars borne by Parliament
It seems that some members of Parliament live in fear of returning to their homes because of security and terrorist issues....probably rightly so....but to expect Parliament to pick up tabs for their cabs and hotel stays.....so typical of politicians....the money has to come out of someone's pocket...just not mine they say.
No reconciliation is possible with Saddam’s henchmen
Remember you heard it here first.....former Iraqi PM Allawi has suggested that a former "henchman" of Saddam's be given a place in the new government.....really.....where is the hidden camera....Allen Funt is alive and well it would seem....but of course Allawi himself is a former confidant of Saddam.....so go figure....many just simply say....NO.....to this hair brain idea.
Ministry of Finance carried out modifications to the terms of the budget this year and bring it back within two weeks
Two more weeks....they just fail to say which two week period that will be....who knows what these new proposed amendments will look like...whether or not anyone will get paid....or whether the likes of the Kurds will be happy with what is pitched this time around.
The Kurds: America’s Greatest Ally in the Middle East
The Kurds....really....what happened to the Israeli's.....oh yes....we stepped on them one too many times.....look out Kurds....could be a dubious role you have there.....yes there are many reasons why the US should consider the Kurds as allies....but will this actually happen....the Kurds certainly want it....but they are also accustomed to being stepped upon after years under the rule and reign of first Saddam...then Maliki.....they are ripe for independence and a break from Iraq....in many ways they are the superior to the government in Baghdad and that causes jealously by the Baghdad politicians.....get over the spilled milk.....but to say that the Kurds are America's greatest ally in the ME....shaking my head at that one....where does obama weigh in on this issue....while on the golf course of foreign policy of course.
Expert: Abadi in front of two tests to determine his political approach
