US official: the next battle in Baiji
They say the next big battle for Iraqi Security Forces will be for the Baiji refinery....I've worked in places like this in the past and our biggest fear was terrorist activity.....
The facilities are usually so large and there are just way too many places someone could place something like an IED or multiples of them to do significant damage....
The booby traps they could leave behind make me shudder....as for the validity of other aspects of this article....to me they remain questionable.
Babylon: Sunday issuing smart card for displaced families
Supposedly on Sunday, smart cards are to be issued to displaced families around Iraq....the cards are supposed to be loaded with 400,000 dinars on them as approved by the central government....just in Babylon province alone there are upwards of 60,000 displaced citizens....this distribution will be done through branches of the Rasheed and Rafidain Banks.
Ports Company announces the implementation of new projects to facilitate the entry and exit of trucks in Basra
The streets of Basra are to be improved in the future to allow for transport trucks to move in and out of the harbor areas with more ease....the streets will be designed and constructed to handle heavier loads....signs of good things to come.
The return of mobile networks and Internet service to the city of Tikrit
Forget the clean water, sanitation, and power.....let's work on getting the bare necessities back to Tikrit post haste.....internet service and cell phone service.
Abdul-Mahdi: Iraq paid dues international oil companies
The Oil Minister said in March the oil companies would be paid on the first of April.....well according to him they were paid a total of $12 billion dollars....it was indicated that Treasury bonds were issued in the same amount at that time.....production and exports continue to rise especially within the Kurdistan region where more and more fields are being put back into production after liberating them from DAASH control....export expectations are on the rise for the Kurds and they are receiving some payments....but more needs to be sent to uphold the Baghdad side of the deal signed in December.
Abadi adviser for the economy: Iraq will not go bankrupt and expectations of excessive force pessimistic budget
Some economists are predicting that Iraq will run out of money before they run out of 2015 due to lower oil prices and the budget deficit that must be overcome.....however Dr. Saleh is a bit more optimistic in his outlook....but where will the cash come from in the meantime.
Financial representative: taxes raise the dollar to dinar
A member of the Finance Committee states that the rise in price difference between the USD and the IQD can be equated to supply and demand on the street creating the difference....coupled with variables invoked by the government at the same time....the guts to Article 50 that the Finance Committee created, though he won't say that himself.
