Parliamentary economy: purchasing power was not affected by the absence of a difference at the exchange rate dollar
Geez, a couple of days ago members of the Economic Committee were screaming that there was all kinds of purchasing power problems that Iraqis would experience.....now they are saying the opposite....
.maybe....just maybe Turki whispered in their ears those gratifying words that all would be good in the homeland if they would just let the CBI do their job....again....maybe.....
so is Maliki saying here or being quoted here as saying that the Kurds will cave to the budget issues to keep their economy from collapsing....to get their employees paid.....again a maybe.....
Read More Link On Right
it seems pretty obvious that Baghdad is playing a different kind of budget game this year with the Kurds....makes one wonder who has the upper hand here.
Renewed the call for the adoption of the budget of zero
A budget of zero....the way the Iraqi's are currently managing their budget is out of date, out of style with the way that developed countries manage their budgeting processes it seems....
at least according to this Financial Committee member.....the voice of one again.....but everyone is entitled to have their voice heard. This article makes me raise a couple of questions about their process, are they supposedly carrying over what they believe are budget balances from year to year.....
that is different.....when I've had to create budgets in corporate America.....we have always started with scratch at the beginning of the budget process, built into the budget our expected costs for the year,
we eventually got into forecasting which was a whole other animal in the process.....sounds like they do have interest in trying to modernize their budget system.....that might be a big benefit for them.
Counterfeit currency spread ... again!!
This is a re-hash of an old article that appeared a month or two ago.....it seems that perhaps counterfeiting is on the rise again, or expected to rise again, primarily targeting the 5,000 and 10,000 dinar notes....perhaps these are the two easiest to duplicate by criminals......
there is concern that people on the streets will want to revert to using USD from a trust standpoint....plus this will have a negative impact upon the economy if it is allowed to grow.
There are problems with security, particularly at the street level in many areas and obviously the average citizen would have a struggle to properly identify a counterfeit currency.....at least some of the counterfeiting is believed to be occurring outside the country and is very sophisticated....
but still only 1% per thousand of over 100 million banknotes deposited with the CBI are found to be counterfeit....I guess even 1 is too many.
End of a long process nears as Iraqi Kurdistan's ESX chief predicts bright future
Erbil is looking for a startup around the end of August first of September of 2014.....they are a bit delayed but at their own choosing in their attempt to get things right for the start up, in training people in their jobs....’
the ESX is expecting to compete some with the ISX, but in the end they are both looking to push for the boom of Iraqi's economy.....their goals are to attract retail and institutional investors but also citizens of Iraq as well, and lastly to encourage investors from outside of Iraq to do business with them as well.
Kurdistan's oil policy has achieved great success compared to the policy of the Federal Government"
Ok, my Daddy is bigger than your Daddy....what does that prove.....we all still live and work within the same country of Iraq.....we have Federal laws that we must live by, regardless of what area of the country we work in.....you can make your own laws you autonomous Kurds....’
but at the end of the day.....you must play be Federal law.....if you have created a better way....why not share that way with the rest of your brothers and sisters so everyone can benefit.....shaking my head.....it is time to get along with each other.
Expert: Maliki government measures towards Kurdistan threaten political stability
This political expert is stating that the efforts that Maliki's government is taking with the Kurds is unconstitutional and threatens political stability throughout Iraq.....he predicts that much of the political issues will go away after the upcoming elections where he believes most political parties agree to not give Maliki a third term.....so Maliki is perhaps a lame duck....but what happens in the meantime.....don't forget the budget that is floating in limbo.
Kurdistan region last support stability in Iraq
This seems to be an editorial that makes the claim that the Kurds provide the last support for a stable Iraq.....oh so much heavy weight rests on their shoulders....so they believe.....the proximity of the upcoming elections are not lost on how in the past that the Kurds have aided the power to be....’
makes one wonder just who they will side with this year.....I'm kind of doubting it will be Maliki again.
KRG could cut water supply to Iraq to put pressure on Baghdad
One international relations expert says that the Kurds should shut off the water supply that runs through their region into the rest of Iraq to bring Baghdad to its knees.....
thinking this would put the Kurds in the driver's seat......I'm thinking this would turn the rest of Iraq against the Kurds, not just the Federal government....be careful who you get mad at you...
.meanwhile an Iraqi MP claims that neighbors do not react in this manner with each other.....I agree....the Kurds need a plan...but this route is not a good plan, not for effective long range relationship.
Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister of Iraq tomorrow and new agreements!
The Chinese Foreign Minister is coming to Baghdad for a one day visit with Maliki and other members of the government....they will talk about bilateral relationships between the two countries and what they can do to make that relationship grow....
.oh and while you are in town.....let's talk about military weapons.....we understand you have many weapons....would you be interested in selling some of them to us....and just how quickly could we expect delivery.
Kurdish parliamentarian attribute the lack of agreement center and the region to deposit oil revenues in the last Turkish banks
Why is it that everything.....I mean everything that Baghdad wants the Kurds to do.....they twist the lines of communication to do things exactly opposite of what is to be expected.....all the time.....it never ends.
The Kurds want to operate in cloaked darkness and not tell Baghdad what they are doing, what they have exported, sold, or for how much.....just trust us and we will give you what is yours in the end.....Baghdad is a tad bit smarter than that.....put the marbles on the table and talk Turkey....not deposits being made in Turkey either.
Dzia Nechirvan Barzani denies the request of the Turkish government to address the lack of liquidity in the region
Barzani is going every where to try and find cash for the Kurd government, last week it was with Baghdad, yesterday it was with the World Bank, today it is with the Turkish government.....
who will he turn to next....The Turkish government is smart to keep out of this fight.....besides they have their own issues with currency at this time.
Exclude the inclusion of the budget law in the parliament session today
Someone is making some very bold statements here.....I could believe the idea that there was no inclusion in the agenda of Parliament for the budget....that doesn't surprise me at all....but to say that if we don't get the first reading done this week we will not get things addressed before the election....
that is a bit extreme in my play book.....there are a number of weeks before the election.....the MP's all have a job to do and need to be required to stay in town to get them done.
Electronic card .. to prevent fraud and manipulation
The e-cards for voters are being distributed in many areas of Iraq but at the same time some areas have yet to receive them for distribution.....they are coming to them soon....and they will begin immediate distribution....even in Anbar in identified safe areas.....
after all to vote you must be in possession of your card, this will help to eliminate fraud and any voter ballot tampering as well.....this should be an interesting process for Iraq, I am sure that other countries will be watching as well to see what happens.....maybe even the US who is looking at requiring voter ID as a means to squash voter fraud.
Alaterci confirms that the Kurdistan region is facing a problem of liquidity and the government is using the budget as a political weapon against the Kurds
There should be no doubt by now that the Kurds are being squeezed economically by Maliki's government.....the Kurdish banks are dry....they have no liquidity....and no where to turn for cash.....yet they still attempt to put demands on Baghdad.....shaking my head.....
there is a time to fight and there is a time to retreat and protect your assets....your people.....the Kurds need to protect their people and choose another day for battle.
Infrastructure Growth Doubles direct productive activities
Dr. Mohammed Saleh is all over this article and while it is difficult to comprehend, he seems to be talking about growing the Iraqi infrastructure in a manner that will increase growth by 50%......
something he also talks about is the use of T-bills by the Finance Ministry, something they are not able to use at this moment in time....but that should change with the passing of the budget and other laws tied to it very soon.
Baghdad linking the salaries of the staff of the Iraqi Kurdistan approval of budget
This makes about the umpteenth article now talking about Baghdad keeping money from the Kurds that keeps them from paying employee salaries.....yes we are well aware of who is over the barrel at this point....the Kurds hold the key to water though....
.and will that be enough to bring Baghdad to the bargaining table in favor of the Kurds....or by drying up the currency liquidity throughout the Kurd region bring the Kurds to the same table.....someone has to cry uncle.
KRG denies request loans from Turkey
So now the Kurds are denying that they asked the Turkish government for some bologna to pay their employees with.....shaking my head....politicians will lie regardless of what block they live in around the world. Who do you trust any more.....we only talked about oil issues they now claim.....
oh and that 100 billion dinar that was given by the worthy Kurdish businessmen, that is merely a drop in the bucket and will not pay the employees salaries.....sure we took it.....as a good faith measure.....what did we do with it....can't tell you that.....we are consistently stubborn though....that we can all agree upon.
That wraps up the News Summaries for Saturday.
