Hakim declares his victory in Iraq is a real partnership
Well now the boasting starts for "who won"....in this instance it is the Citizen coalition, representing the Islamic Supreme Council....they promise partnership truth and the elimination of Daash and the explosion of terrorism from the country.....
the Electoral Commission is still maintaining a voter turnout of approximately 60%.....while others are reporting the turnout to be as high as 70%.
Osman: Commission to speed up the announcement of the election results to prevent stirring doubts among voters
A member of the Kurdistan Alliance has called upon the Electoral Commission to speed up their preliminary announcement results of the elections....this would eliminate suspicion and doubt in the process....
stating that any long delays could disrupt the electoral process....again it was stated that over 12 million Iraqi's voted....over 60% of the registered voters.
Central bank: deal with the state government banks does not mean the end of the day for private banks
The vast majority of financial transactions occur with government banks, 80%, says the CBI...but also according to the CBI this does not rule out the growth of private banks.....
they continue to work on regulations that will be beneficial for the private banking sector.....the Iraqi people also need to grow more trusting of the private banks for their financial transactions to grow.
New Dinars Have Improved Anti-Forgery Features
The new dinars being introduced have improved or enhanced security features that guard against forgery....things like guarantee ribbons and the internationally used SPARK feature.....the new currency will be used alongside the old until the old is phased out.
Parliamentary Finance: a quick session to resolve the budget crisis
The Finance Committee has stated there will be a session of Parliament to meet on Sunday, May 4....to "approve" the General Budget Law.....note there is no mention of the second reading, but just the approval of the budget......
according to the MP making this announcement there are no remaining conflicts....and there should not be any excuse for not having a quorum.
Arab Refugees in Kurdistan Defy Maliki with their Ballots
Arab Refugees from Anbar who relocated in Kurdistan had the opportunity to vote for their province representation at special polling stations for Anbar....some 30,000 are believed to be in Kurdistan, many in or near Erbil.....
they wish to have nothing to do with Maliki, and even with their incumbent Sunni MP's....they want them voted out for failing to uphold promises.

Maliki's strength has apparently weakened significantly both internally in Iraq as well as externally outside of Iraq....primarily with Iran...
predictions of the new PM for Iraq were reportedly one of three… Mahdi ... Chalabi.... Allawi.....
not sure either of these three would be effect....but compared to Maliki's ineffectiveness pretty much anything should be an improvement.
Iraq restores the reopening of air space in front of the air traffic
Iraqi air space was re-opened at the end of the voting on Wednesday. Ballot boxes were taken to counting centers....as far as election related violence...there were 8 claimed dead and 19 injured including 5 members of the military.

The falling prices associated with gold may bring about a large turnout of Iraqi's to purchase gold at reduced rates....Iraqis may see this as a safe haven for their money for the time being.

The first day of May is a holiday for Iraqis in celebration of International Workers Day.
UN Security Council calls on Iraq's leaders to the fastest in the formation of a government that represents the will and sovereignty of the people
The title seems to convey more of a message from the UNSC than does the actual article....urging the Iraqi leaders to use haste in forming the new government....hopefully one that is representative of what the Iraqi people desire and that will insure the sovereignty of the Iraqi people....."git 'er done".
Baghdad’s ambassador in Washington: A new stage of cooperation between Iraq and America
Iraq's ambassador to Washington was quoted as saying there will be a new wave of cooperation between Iraq and the US following the elections yesterday.....
Iraq will work on activating the strategic framework agreement with the US.....Iraq will now seek stability and independence.....Iraq is looking for assistance from the US in areas of security and stability....for maintaining world peace against all threats to the Iraqi sovereignty.
Maliki: Polls will determine who will win , I am not interested in a third term
Maliki is saying he is not interested in a third term.....he has mucho money.....USD.....and he now needs some quiet time to contemplate how he will spend it all....
probably somewhere away from the clutches of those coming into power who might like to arrest him for whatever crimes they feel would fit him.....but famous last words.....
