[millionday] The statement called for "the nomination wishing to submit their applications to the editorial office of the President of the Council during the later than the end of the official working hours of the day Sunday, 20/07/2014 curricula vitae and official documents."
The presidency of the Council stipulated that the applicant's candidacy that "the Iraqi by birth from Iraqi parents, and the entire civil and completed forty years of age and has a good reputation and political experience and renowned for his integrity, rectitude, justice and devotion to the homeland."
[risk] millionday ...How refreshing

and the presence of 207 deputies, the county coalition of national, led by Iyad Allawi, which has seen its election Salim al-President of the Parliament, Haider Abadi and First Vice President of the Parliament, and Aram Ali Mohammed as second deputy.

[millionday] so there is the announcement to the citizens -- very exciting
[rod86018] guess that leaves me out...with my questionable moral turpitude....lol

[millionday] Sources told the "News" of Lebanon, which is close to Iran, for abandoning the Iraqi Prime Minister outgoing Nuri al-Maliki, his candidacy for the presidency of the new government for a third term, after a request from the reference Najaf and Iran.
The newspaper reported that the request for the religious authority was aimed at ending the conflict inside and outside of the National Alliance about the prime minister.
[millionday] The newspaper pointed out that the leaks within the National Alliance negotiations are currently underway regarding the timing of the announcement of the nomination of a replacement for the succession of al-Maliki, after the announcement of the latter's abandonment of the run, where some parties prefer to announce his move after the achievement of these results in the field of security
[millionday] i love when they call him outgoing smile
Rockin'RV] I'd like to call him, 'History'....
[millionday] so this shows that they are working on his replacement announcement -- maybe we could help write it
[quicktolegit96] he is toast w/no jelly, no wiggle room
[Domino] So millionday, seems to me with the warrent against M from the Hague, he doesn't qualify at least by that for the presidency. Am I missing something?
[efriscone] So they are going to come up with a replacement and then get rid of him?
[millionday] well when they hold office it doesnt apply until they leave office it seems -- i agree with you on how it should be but he is still in office
[millionday] efriscone according to this they certainly are not keeping him
[ivorygal] It's my understanding Maliki must resign his current prime minister ship in order to even be nominated for prime minister in the new government, that all previous ministers had to resign, as a formality.
[efriscone] maybe for security reasons and keeping confidence for the people that don't worry we have someone in charge
[efriscone] It sure seems they are doing many things behind closed doors that we know nothing about to make headway.
[Domino] millionday Ok but there is talk of him resigning his current position to be a candidate for Pres. in the new govt. What do you think about that?
[efriscone] At least were not hearing lack of quorum anymore!
[millionday] Iraq's Kurds said Thursday Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was "hysterical" and not fit to run the country, further dimming the prospect of a new leadership uniting to face jihadist fighters.
[watchman42] Domino so changing the wolfs clothing from lamb skin to goat skin
[Domino] millionday Ok then if the Kurds said that, and they get to choose the Pres., not much chance they'll choose him any way you look at it.
[millionday] here is some info from reuters on this -- from today here we go
[millionday] Iraqi forces have withdrawn from the militant-held city of Tikrit after their new offensive met heavy resistance, in a blow to the government effort to push back Sunni insurgents controlling large parts of the country.
The failure highlights the difficulties of Baghdad's struggle to recapture territory from the insurgents who seized Mosul, Tikrit and other cities last month in a rapid offensive which threatens to fragment Iraq on ethnic and sectarian lines.
[millionday] The setback came as Iraqi politicians named a moderate Sunni Islamist as speaker of parliament on Tuesday. That was a long-delayed first step towards a power-sharing government urgently needed to confront the militants, who are led by the al Qaeda offshoot Islamic State.
It is unclear if the election of Salim al-Jabouri as speaker will break the broader deadlock over Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's bid to serve a third term. He has ruled since the April election as a caretaker.
Government troops and allied Shi'ite volunteer fighters retreated from Tikrit before sunset on Tuesday to a base four km (2.5 miles) south after coming under heavy mortar and sniper fire, a soldier who fought in the battle said.
[millionday] note -- it is believed that the power sharing may resolve much of the fighting and the election has given hope but this doesnt look very good for the iraqi forces once again -- and who is their leader?
[millionday] Residents said there was no fighting on Wednesday morning in Tikrit, which lies 160 km (100 miles) north of Baghdad.
It is a stronghold of ex-army officers and loyalists of executed former dictator Saddam Hussein's Baath Party who allied themselves with the Islamic State-led offensive last month
[millionday] here is more on what they say about maliki
[millionday] A shared resentment at Maliki's style of rule, which his critics say has marginalized Iraq's Sunnis and Kurds, may have bolstered the Islamic State's offensive last month.
The Shi'ite leader has defied demands from Sunnis and Kurds that he step aside for a less polarizing figure. He also faces challenges from within the National Alliance, a Shi'ite umbrella group that includes Maliki's State of Law bloc and rivals.
After quickly picking Salim al-Jabouri as speaker on Tuesday afternoon, lawmakers argued bitterly for hours over his Shi'ite deputy, suggesting they are still far from a deal to complete the formation of a new government or a decision on the fate of Malik
[millionday] note -- demands for him to step aside and here is some of his response
[millionday] Now that parliament has picked a speaker, it has 30 days to elect a president, who will then have 15 days to nominate a prime minister. Since Iraq's post-Saddam constitution was adopted in 2005, the prime minister has always been a member of the Shi'ite majority, the speaker a Sunni and the largely ceremonial president a Kurd.
Each of the three is meant to have two deputies, drawn from the other two groups. An official from Maliki's State of Law bloc said the group understood that it would not be able to push through Maliki's nomination for a third term and there was a need for "transition", but did not say how that might come about. Maliki has given no indication he is willing to step aside
[millionday] "Prime Minister Maliki can't and shouldn't be pushed out," the official told Reuters, adding there had been no formal discussion yet on possible nominees for prime minister.
