Monday News Summaries
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrives in Baghdad on unannounced visit
"Unannounced" my foot.....maybe the only thing unannounced about this trip of Kerry's was perhaps his time of landing at the Baghdad airport....to keep the terrorists who might be lurking nearby off guard.....maybe he thought it was "unannounced" when he realized that Maliki didn't roll out the red carpet for him....the article says it is "Kerry's second visit to Iraq"....the way I see that is it is "only Kerry's second visit to Iraq"......quite a different emphasis......there hasn't been a great deal of concern for Iraq in the past 18 months....until now.....and this trip....well Kerry is merely the errand boy...."we don't want to see you in office for a third term Maliki".......that comes from on top.
Central Bank calls for state ministries to wait to deal with the Bank of the economy
The CBI is calling on state agencies and ministries to hold off in dealing withe Bank of Economy for Investment and Finance until the CBI can get the letters of guarantee in place with the bank.....hmmmmm......thinking outside the box here.....the CBI put this bank under their guardianship quite early this month.....I wonder why it has taken them this long to get letters of guarantee written up in put into play......could they be busy elsewhere doing other things that are more important than issues with this bank at the moment....but due to impending changes in the MR.....this bank may be a go to source for the government and now needs these letters in place to safely conduct its future business.....again.....just some thinking over the sides of the box....hanging onto a flap.
Kurdistan Alliance: Maliki's administration for four Ministries security proof that he is a tyrant
The Kurds are saying...."look at the proof".....Maliki is a tyrant......he demands that he himself fill key security positions rather than give up control of the military to anyone else.....there is definite lack of balance in his ministries, lacking Sunni representation in some very obvious and big ways.
Iraq's Kurdish Region Gets Around $100 Million for First Major Oil Export
Well it seems the Kurds took about $97 million dollars to the bank in Turkey.....that equates to $97 dollars a barrel if the tanker was carrying 1 million barrels of crude oil....not a bad day for them....how will Baghdad choose to deal with this when they get back around to it....after all their time has been preoccupied now by the ISIS group's push towards Baghdad.....time will tell and perhaps the seating of a new PM will help as well.
The 4000 arrival of an American to protect the Green Zone
Really.....4,000 arrive to protect the Green Zone.....would that be defined as the US Embassy alone.....or perhaps the political offices and ministries that are also housed within the Green Zone.....it will be interesting to see if we hear of this group of 4,000 again.
State of Law: Committee for eight parked because of political differences
A committee of eight....only eight....failed to get their heads on straight to come up with rules of procedures for the National Alliance to select an individual for the role of PM.....incredible.....but then some of this group of eight must be some of Maliki's own people.....who lead the way in not making decisions......here....IMO....while be the shoe that is untied and trips everything up.....here within the National Alliance will be the stumbling block that keeps the PM position from going forward in a smooth manner.
US Offers Iraq 'Intense And Sustained' Support
We are offering "intense and sustained support".......how intense can advisors get.....and just how sustained will their presence be felt....meanwhile we say we aren't going to meddle in their politics.....yet Kerry has told Maliki to step down as PM.....then he turns around and talks to him like we are supportive of him staying in office if he gives over some ministerial control to Sunni's and other past groups that he has well known conflicts with.....signals are mixed....and they are coming from the same mouth.....meanwhile O is talking about our "allies" like Jordan could be threatened by the actions of ISIS......well whatever happened to Iraq as an ally.......seems that we are not looking after what should be a vested interest of ours.
Sunni forces demanding the ouster of al-Maliki of Erbil and the formation of a national salvation government
Will we see Maliki leaving on a jet plane? If the Sunni's have their way we will.....the Sunni's are attempting to claim the elections were rigged.....that they do not want or need any foreign interference in the country at this time.....they wish to form an autonomous region similar to the Kurdistan....basically they want a voice in a new government that is not led by Maliki.
Banks speed up shift to forex automation
And just why would big banks like Barclays and UBS be pushing for forex automation within Iraq.....could it have anything at all to do with an upcoming major curtain call with the MR? Most interesting article.
