Israel – Gaza Showdown : Chess heard Israel says it carried out 16 airstrikes early today, targeted two mosques it said were used by militants. Says hamas fired 10 rockets into Israel.
Israeli airstrikes level a seven floor office building and severely damage a two story shopping center in Gaza strip. Strikes come hours after Israel bombed a residential tower in Gaza city, collapsing the 12 story building.
Israel says eight people were killed in the strikes, including a hamas official involved in handling the group’s finances. Egypt has been calling for an open ended cease fire in Gaza, urging the Palestinians and Israel to return to indirect talks.
