Aggiedad77: Saturday News and Commentaries
In a quick preview of what I see in the news this early morning, much of the same thing regarding the formation of the new government, talk around that....how it is going....even who a few selected members of Abadi's government might be....but as I've cautioned before....take these announcements with a grain of salt until we hear from either Abadi himself or from the Parliament announcing the new GOI.
Fuad Masum, the Iraqi president in a session with limited (time) is full of secrets
The Iraqi President Massoum is saying that Iraq intends to improve relationships with neighboring countries....he reiterated that talks are continuing regarding the new government selection process despite some sharp remarks from some parties....meanwhile talks are commencing with area countries and other entities around the world to improve relations and to repair damage that might have been caused in the past.....President Massoum also stated that the crimes committed in Mosul should be paid and justly so that all parties in Iraq should be involved in the process of pushing the terrorists out of the country and eliminating them as a threat.....they move forward with an outlook towards a brighter future for all of Iraq.
Baghdad and Erbil .. search for solutions and stuck demands
Of all the demands and lists of complaints from various parties probably the most serious of them comes from the Kurds....from Erbil.....these have been long standing some dating back to Saddam's rule.....the new President and PM recognize the seriousness of them and appear at least on the surface ready to sit down and listen in earnest where the Kurds were largely ignored in the past....the Kurds realize that today the formation of the government is key and has priority, but at the same time they want the new government to hit the ground knowing that Kurd demands will need to be addressed and would hopefully have simmered up to near the top of the pot....maybe taking second seat only to the security issues that shroud Iraq today.
Washington: Daash in our operations against Iraq is costing about seven million and 500 thousand dollars per day
Oh this could so easily turn into a rant.....our Pentagon is saying that we are currently spending roughly $7.5 million a day at this point on DAASH operations.....this has been identified as an enemy of the US....and enemy of the world and must be dealt with....otherwise they pose a grave and serious threat to our nation.....so what if the DOD has to ask for more funds.....make the pitch for what stands behind the use of the funds and what is to be gained....educate Congress on the reality of doing nothing against the removal of the threat...this has grown from just a zit to a well-infected boil and must be taken care of or it will just continue to spread.
Rafidain Bank intends to re-opening of its branch in London after the settlement of all debts incurred by him
While making monetary amends to the UK the Rafidain Bank is attempting to reopen its branch office in London. They feel they have currently repaired all debts and wish to become a part of the financial community there again....the British are re-examing the process of the bank reopening and appear to be looking forward to having them as a part of the community again in London.
Iraqi National Alliance: An agreement to raise the government's program on the political blocs in preparation for the formation within the legal limit
The National Alliance announced early this morning....sounds like they had a late night meeting that ran into the wee hours of Saturday....could this be encouraging? They are sharing with political blocs the intent to form a government that will be to the benefit of all blocs going forward.
From the sound of this article we might expect Maliki to try and drag things out to the very end of the 10th or even the 11th.....he is still not a happy camper that he is leaving and will inflict his power as long as he can retain it....and he is still not happy with how President Massoum ran things in announcing a new PM back in early August....this man has been quiet of late...but be reminded that he is still in power...watch what he does or tries to do.
National Alliance agreed to put up the final paper of the government program
The National Alliance in a meeting with Jaafari last night that they would put forth a national paper that shows the government program going forward and how the new GOI needs input from blocs to finalize the formation of the new government going forward.....speak now or hold your peace for a while they seem to be saying.
Shiites Reach Deal for Government Posts
Shiites have come to some agreement with the formation of the new government and want to move forward.....this comes after urging this week from the highest Iraqi clerics to speed up the formation process of the government.....when the clerics speak the others listen.....but then Maliki has to get his two IQD in as well....but who is left to listen to him today.....get your names in to Abadi as to who you have that would be qualified....remember competency and integrity.....to share in a part of the new government being formed....tomorrow is supposedly the drop dead day for submittals...but we shall see.
Disclosure of the names put forward for ministerial positions
This is the kind of article that I mentioned early on today that one shouldn't put a great deal of stock in at this point....information leaked....just how reliable is this at this point in time....wait for Abadi to speak or the Parliament to announce their approval and then we will know who the ministers will be going forward.
Shammari's (et al): The government will soon vote mighty harmonious team
"Harmonious team".....now there is a term that you can bet was never uttered during Maliki's terms as PM.....Iraq has been anything but harmonious in the last 8 years.....I applaud their effort if they can get to this point going forward and I firmly believe they have made good strides in the last couple of months.
Barzani's party waives bag foreign exchange for the oil ministry or financial
In the past the Kurds have held the position of Foreign Minister for Iraq, a position that Zebari has held well....but Kurdish President Barzani has announced they would give up that position as esteemed as it is to be able to snag either the Oil Ministry position or that of the Finance Ministry....any bets on where their dreams are headed in gaining either of those two positions...time will tell if they first get either of them...and secondly, if in either position they can change things for the better towards the Kurds.
