Sunday News Summaries and Commentaries
Ok.....after the team chat the other night I said this SECURITY.....SECURITY.....SECURITY. Now today after reading the news I will say this
SECURITY.....SECURITY.....SECURITY.....SECURITY.....we are at that crux of things that one thing is going to cause the gelling of so many other aspects of life for the Iraqis....and it is spelled.....SECURITY.....no matter how you focus....no matter where you look.....no matter what you read.....one thing sums it all up....SECURITY....
But we've said that for months....what makes it different today.....the difference is in the actions being taken.....these are exciting times and they are proving through their actions they are in control....get ready for your world to be changed and rocked in a way that may seem unfathomable.....wait for it....the BEST is yet to come.
Parliamentary Integrity Vice close to expel al-Maliki of membership
Friends in high places sometimes does no one any benefit.....according to some unnamed source....so take with a grain of salt at this point....claims that some individual within the Integrity Commission was too close to Maliki and is on the way out.....we heard where the head of the Commission was stepping down a week or 10 days ago....could this be the person they are referring to in this article....blind accusations at this point...in my book.
Muthanna declares bankruptcy
The governor of the province of Muthanna has declared bankruptcy for his province today....the province has no liquidity to make payments to contractors....notified the Ministry of Finance that all project work within the province has been stopped.
Expansion ports financing adopted by Islamic banks
Look for the further development of Islamic banks to aid in the movement of projects within Iraq.....assisting with promotion of the real estate market as well as focusing on customer interests that include savings and investments into other sectors such as agriculture....things that better serve the public interest....perhaps at this point it is believed these Islamic banks have their stuff together better than other banking choices that can promote the economic recovery within Iraq.
Parliamentary economy reveal withdraw the previous government two billion dollars from the International Monetary
Shazaam Sergeant....Shazaam.....just Shazaam, that other government they withdrew a whole bunch of money from the IMF, like $2 billion dollars worth....what do you suppose they did with it.....it sure looks like they didn't use it to better the country.....even with that withdrawal...the IMF says that Iraq has upwards of $4 billion 400 million dollars at their disposal.
Payment on credit
Payment on credit......I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today......Iraqi projects are being prioritized and looks like they will be attempting to make payments on credit for the work supposedly being done today....will be interesting to see how this fares for them.
Secretary-General of the United Nations reach Baghdad tomorrow for an official visit
The Moon will be rising over Iraq.....I mean Ban ki-Moon will be arriving in Iraq tomorrow to put heads together with PM Abadi, President Masum, and Speaker Jubouri.....an official visit.....what will they be talking about....officially....oh politics and security of course....but then what will be the "unofficial" "fly-on-the-wall" agenda.....we sure would like to know.
Planning Announces conducted a survey of the displaced people in 12 counties
Ministry of Planning is conducting a survey of displaced citizens within the 12 Iraqi provinces and will have a report ready on Monday.....interesting timing with the UN Secretary being on hand I would think.....look for this report around 9 am Baghdad time Monday.
Economic parliamentary: Governmental serious move to activate the private sector
Discrete calls are going out to companies around the world that now is the time to be investing in Iraq....they are looking for this effort to really launch the private sector within Iraq....much of this effort is being centered with French companies at this time with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the CBI, and the Securities and Investment Commission clearing ways for their entry into Iraq.....this could be a real kick start for things to come.
Conscious / chairman of the US House of Representatives to visit Baghdad tomorrow for an official visit
Yet another "official visit" being made upon Baghdad tomorrow....lots of red carpet being spread around it would seem....this time for US House Speaker Boehner to be speaking with Speaker Jubouri.....hmmmm.....another wish to know the agenda within the agenda....as I am sure the party line answer is politics and security.
Conscious / British Foreign Secretary arrives in Baghdad next Tuesday
Wait...could it be....of for sure....another "official visit"....this time by the British Foreign Secretary....again with Speaker Jubouri...what is up with all the talk of politics and security all of a sudden.
Erbil promises Baghdad it will not shelter corruption wrongdoers
Pure and simple....the Kurds will not harbor corrupt people....nope we would not want to be on the bad side of the Integrity Commission....they mean business and heads tend to roll when they get involved....so we will throw the scum out or turn them over to you.
Biden assures Ebadi US support for the security of Iraq under the Strategic Framework Agreement
US support for Iraqi Security Forces working within Tikrit continues to grow their air efforts are working to rout out the DAASH terrorist cells from known areas....both sides reiterate cooperative efforts in support of one another while assuring that Iraq maintains its independence and sovereignty.

You want our oil tomorrow or next month....pay us today for it.....at the same time Iraq works to shift its contracts with oil companies towards production-sharing strategies.....you get paid on a specific fee basis for the production you create.
Education: teachers' salaries will be distributed tomorrow and delayed due to lack of financial liquidity
Teachers will be getting paid tomorrow the Ministry of Education says....blaming the delay on liquidity issues within the government....meanwhile it was brought up again about a potential 10 day delay in salary payments....but reiterated this would only be done when proven to be absolutely necessary.
The KRG has been Successful in Managing the Situation: Kurdish Official
The Kurds are being said to be successful in repelling the advances of ISIS over the past year....their Peshmerga has stopped them on many fronts across the Kurdistan and in some areas that had been previously disputed and had been abandoned by former Iraqi Security Forces.
Affairs restore 15 billion dinars to the state treasury after deleting the names of fictitious beneficiaries
So get rid of fictitious beneficiaries and you create a 15 billion dinar savings for the government....sweet job....should have thought of this sooner.....almost 9,000 fake names....wowser.....who engineered this underhanded way of doing business....hope their name is high on the list with the Integrity Commission.
Tax Authority ply News: New Central tax measures came to check only
Oh sure these taxes they have been around for a while....just not being effectively collected...but the CBI is changing that with its new mechanisms that have been rolled out over the past month.....8% on many goods was brought to light this week.....private banks have been given training to allow them to effectively be a part of the collection process....all of this is supposed to lead to an improvement in the Iraqi economy as well as the private sector....all the while eliminating potential for money laundering and smuggling of currency from the country....watch what happens now.
Dahwi: We have to cite Investment in order to attract international companies to the Iraqi Ttoiralaguetsad
If you want to make a change...you have to change the way you are doing things....otherwise things tend to stagnate.....works with the investment sector as well as with the economy......you have to spend money to make money...but you first need money to spend.....liquidity issues.....so taxation is a quick answer to that....people won't like it...but it is a simple fix for the government and country......investments mean investors....but how do you get both......cut the red tape and eliminate the corruption.....both are being addressed.....focus serious attention on corruption to bring about major change in the investment arena.....this requires serious attention to certain laws as well...which is supposedly in the works.
Abdul-Mahdi: our stock of oil will make us leaders of the country for centuries to come
Of all the news I have read this month...this piece rings with truth through and through IMO......Iraq floats on a vast sea of oil and gas....untold amounts that need to be mapped and discovered.....they need to improve their production capabilities....extend their export sources.....and get started doing some serious seismic efforts if they really want to find out how much is in the energy sea below their sands.....just know it is a whole lotta lotta black gold and gas....more than many give them credit for at this point in time.
Economic center: to postpone the payment of oil companies better than the re-drafting of contracts
The Iraqis would rather postpone than switch.....postpone payments today for times in the future when pricing is more in favor of Iraq....IE....when prices start to rise again....in other words what was done with contracts back in 2009 and 2010 aren't working in Iraq's favor today.....prices they are a-changing...and Iraq wants the payment thing to change also.
Jubouri meet with the heads of parliamentary committees to discuss ways to approve the pending laws
Speaker Jubouri met with heads of Parliamentary committees today and I am reasonably sure the message was loud and clear....get the lead out....and get your laws out of committee and onto the Parliament floor...enough lollygagging and delays....lets see some action......he doesn't want to see things return to how they were with the former Parliament and he is trying to light some fires in appropriate places.
Change: Kurdish delegation in Baghdad, will present a proposal for settling the dispute over oil export
A Kurd delegation will again visit Baghdad with a new proposal up their sleeve on how to get Baghdad to agree to their export of oil from the Kurdistan region as well as from the Kirkuk oil fields.....what has been at issue in the past has been "daily production" versus "overall "monthly production" where the monthly rate will average out to at least the daily agreed upon rate or better....but Baghdad has frowned upon such methods....I'm not holding my breath at this stage for an agreement to be reached...I hope I am about to be surprised.
News....lots of news.....wooohooo.....not so quiet now is it. Aloha Randy
