Jaxjags Published "obelisk" the text of the last voter Budgeting Act by the House of Representatives.
Behalf of the people Presidency Resolution No. ()
Based on what passed the House of Representatives, according to the provisions of subsection (I) of Article (61), item (iii) of Article (73) of the Constitution.
President of the Republic decided on / / 2015
Issued the following law:
Law No. () for the year / 2015
The general budget of the Federal Republic of Iraq for the financial year / 2015 Act
((Chapter I)) - Revenue - Article 1
First of all: A general budget estimated revenues of the Federal fiscal year / 2015 in the amount of (94,048,364,139) thousand dinars (ninety-four thousand eighty-four billion) as shown in (Table / A - revenue according to the counter) attached to this law. LINK
^^^^ the 94 billion is now in the newspapers
Phillyman jaxjags, i think this number was discussed recently and it was suggested that the bracketed number is mulltiplied by thousand dinars. That seems to make sense to me but who knows.
Jaxjags Originally I thought that was the case too. However, as they write the intended amount in their own (Arabic) numbers it is 94,048,364,139. The translation issues are in the words..........not the written numbers. Just MO.
Tlar Juxjags, I hope you are right but to me this is a very confusing number. 94,048,364,139 thousand dinars could also mean 94 trillion. Rather than stating the last 3 zeros, they just say "thousand dinars."
As or more important, I thought the rules that Blue sent me showing Import Regulations is very interesting also.

(Tlar) MY COMMENT - 25 dinars going in and only 5 dinars out is not many dinars either way. Today neither of these two sums exist in the form of currencies (notes or coins) in Iraq.
The smallest note to ever hit the street since 2003 was the 50 dinar note. There was a 25 dinar coin but it has long since been melted and pulled from circulation.
So these restrictions make no since under the current monetary regime yet this is the new law. Essentially under the current exchange rate they are saying NO money in or out. We know that can't be right. tlar
Mally Good morning guys. Once upon a time on a dinar site it was stated that there is no word for trillion in arabic and so it is said as billion thousand. I have no idea if that is true. Interesting news on the imports tlar.
DreamWeaver Sorry, guys, but this figure (94,048,364,139) thousand dinars is refective of dinars in trillons.
Per quote when they passed the budget: "The allocated budget amount of $119,585,322,783 thousand dinars for the expenses of the fiscal year 2015 with the planned deficit of the budget 25,401,235,783 thousand dinars.
$ 119,585,322,783 thousand dinars - 25,401,235,783 thousand dinars = 94,184,087 thousand dinars
This figure was adjusted a little (135,723) from the time they passed the budget, so it's not exact; but it does verify that this budget is not in trillions of dinars but billions.
DreamWeaver Wish this budget were in billions instead of trillions as that would be the glimpse into the abyss we've never had in this investment.
So onward and upward we go. Thanks for bringing article, Jaxjags. One less thing we have to conjecture about. ;) Best ~ DW
Mally DW I think your first sentence here and last say opposite things? Im not sure which you were trying to say or maybe Im not understanding. JMO but I think the budget is in the trillions of dinars, billions of usd's.
rissas dad DW you say in your first sentence that its trillions, and your last sentence you say its not in trillions but billions. Please clarify?
The customs info is interesting. However the currency part is under "free import" it doesnt mean those amounts are prohibited, just that those amounts are without tax or tariff to bring in or take out. BUT it is interesting that the amount is below any current note amount available. Curious, unless theyve just omitted the "hundred" or "thousand" from the text, dont know why they would do that.
DreamWeaver Okay. We know the budget was passed in trillions of dinars. Agreed?
This is the way they show trillions in the budget that was passed: $119,585,322,783 thousand dinars
This figure is really: $119,585,322,783,000
(119 trillion, five hundred eighty five billion, three hundred twenty two million, seven hundred eighty three thousand dinars)
So, if the budget was passed in trillions of dinar, looking at the way they displayed these figures when they passed it: $119,585,322,783 thousand dinars means they do not say trillions but billion thousands, just as GIJane stated in her previous post on Sunday, I believe.
They probably don't have a word for trillions, as stated by Mally above, as I've never seen past budget using word "trillion."
So the figure shown in the budget, although it appears to be billions is not billions. It is trillions. I was comparing apples to apples and took their very statement to verify this budget is in TRILLIONS, but billions.
That word "thousand" behind the billion figure represents trillions. That's the way the display it. There are no translation errors or omitted words.
Billion thousands -- whether in numbers or combination of words and numbers is how they say trillions.
rissas dad I agree with you DW, you just confused me. Its always been trillions to me, no doubt.
Mally Agreed DW, thanks. RD and me were confused by your last sentence above "but it does verify that this budget is not in trillions of dinars but billions." I think you just flipped the words billions and trillions.
DreamWeaver Thanks, Rissas. I didn't catch that error. Apologies for that, guys. Was hurrying as I need to sign off. GM and best to all ~ DW
My last paragraph should have read: "This figure was adjusted a little (135,723) from the time they passed the budget, so it's not exact; but it does verify that this budget is not in billions of dinar but trillions of dinar"
rissas dad Not like im hanging on every word you type or anything, wink wink. Have a good day DW.
DreamWeaver Yep, Mally, exactly what I did. I didn't see my error and went into the explanation again. LOL. At least there's no ambiguity now. Thanks all for helping to clear that up as it could have really been confusing. :P
Revbo I don't know if Arabic lacks a word for trillion, but thousand billion is synonymous. You can say it that way in English, too.
DreamWeaver LOL. Had a very good day. Hope yours was the same. Can't shake this opta-mata-puss-tic :D feeling that we are right there.
Aaanth they uoe thousand billion in many other countries, UK being one of i think? shiz? what say you
