Urgent .. Parliament to raise its regular next Thursday
Let's see if we can confuse them just a little bit longer.....wait for it....wait for it....ok, let's give it to them on Thursday....but may I have a COOKIE on Tuesday....please.....meanwhile let's talk about the displaced, they are important....let's also talk about the budget that is very important....some say it is vitally important....and let's form a temporary Finance committee that can deal with temporary money, and issue temporary money for temporary projects.....meanwhile....get your names in blocs for the committees so we can formally get something worthwhile accomplished.....but let's look ahead to Thursday....will we tell you anything then....don't hold your breathe.
Deputy for change: interim Finance held a meeting before the parliamentary session to discuss the 2014 budget
An Interim Finance group held a meeting prior to the Parliament session to discuss the 2014 budget.....this comes from a Kurd on this imaginary committee....who admits there really hasn't been much said toward resolution of who will be the biggest bloc, so who will be the PM is still an unknown....and he reflects that back on July 23 there was a committee formed to "study" the 2014 budget and report back to Parliament....well let it be time to report...spill your guts.
National Alliance calls for the presidency and the House of Representatives and the Federal Court to postpone discuss the issue of "the biggest bloc!"
National Alliance admits that it doesn't have a clear candidate yet, give us another two days to squabble so maybe...maybe we can have a name then....apparently several blocs submitted requests for the postponement.....they have a square peg that is being attempted to fit into a round hole....so get rid of the square peg, I mean Maliki and get on with business.
Kurdistan region are required to cancel a U.S. court ordered the detention of an oil shipment
The Kurds are going to court....in Texas it seems to block a US court order that would seize any oil taken from the tanker who sits anchored off the coast of Galveston...outside the jurisdiction of the US at this time.....but they want the courts to not intervene when off-loading to smaller tankers happens and the oil is brought to Houston....claiming they, Kurds, have every right to export and sell their oil under the premise of the Iraqi Constitution and plan to do so very soon.
National coalition: the pressure exerted on Jubouri infallible and to accept that the rule of law is the biggest bloc
Just more bickering over who thinks they are the king of the pile.....not sure which "pile" they think they are standing on though....at least one pile is beginning to develop a rather pungent feedlot aroma to it.
Sheikh Mohammed: the resolution of the National Alliance candidate for prime minister
Now we have another "legal" talking head that says the Constitutional time limit on naming a PM candidate is actually on August 10, not the 8th.....so does that mean we will see Thursday's session come and go without a nomination....causing a required session on Saturday or Sunday...just thinking out loud.....meanwhile the SOL still says they are on top of things....but take notice....the serpent...the snake in the grass has gotten quiet over the last couple of days....where is he...what is he doing....keep your eyes peeled and watch where you step.
Parliamentary and popular rejection of the waiver of prosecution Maliki
Maliki is still seeking immunity it seems.....but who can grant him international immunity....that being said....this is why he is working so hard to stay afloat....as long as he is in power he believes he is untouchable....Eliot Ness where are you....just google the name for the younger crowd....LOL....Maliki is looking to the National Alliance even for some of the assurances he wants....I would think he should be talking to the courts.....Maliki I am thinking has contingency plans in place....has had for a number of years.....I wouldn't be surprised that those plans might even include security from US sources for the rest of his life.....marked for the rest of his life.....never sure about that footstep that he hears behind him.....or the glint of binoculars in the far distance....who are they watching.
Supreme Council reveals understandings with the components of the rule of law to change the Maliki
A head of the ISC.....says that moving forward with Maliki is looking less and less like the real deal....to me....he is beginning to sound like "The Man Without a Country"......who wants to lay claim to even friendship with this man....they would almost certainly be putting their own life in jeopardy I would think....they see Maliki as going against the grain....the grain of the religious sect in Iraq....not a wise thing to do....doesn't matter who you are, or how powerful you think you have become.
Maliki's choice to leave Iraq ...... Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed
Is Maliki really believing he has exhausted his complete bag of tricks.....or is this just another rouse on his part to draw your attention away from where the snake is about to strike again....be wary of these tactics....he is cunning and very powerful at the moment....especially in and around Baghdad....sources say that he can travel to Tehran or London and hide low for a few years till the dust settles....meanwhile at long last a truly opportune time to see a united Iraq on all fronts, fighting true terrorism and mending fences with near and far neighbors and allies.
Learn the most important conditions Maliki to relinquish his candidacy for a third term
Maliki very clearly wants assurances that he and his henchmen will not be prosecuted if they leave the government....otherwise he claims to want a VP position with Massoum.....he gets to keep all properties in his name today along with his special regiment of protection.....I say.....just do the manly thing....stand up in Parliament, kick his butt out on the street and let the bricks fall where they may.....what has he done in the past 8 years that deserves providing any protections to him at all.
The son of the founder of the call: Maliki deviated from the principles of the party and the Shiites in front of a big test
The son of the founder of the Dawa Party....has stood and given light to the idea of withdrawing the name of Maliki for PM, claiming he has deviated from party principles and the Shiites in general....will there be anyone to stand with his man and demand a change.....he applauds both the Parliament Speaker and the President of the Republic for their recent positive efforts in bringing change to Iraq.....now it is time to continue forging ahead seeking the final change that will assure the possibility of strong and long lasting good for all Iraqis.....but that must mean the end to the Maliki rein as PM.....there are far more blocs that totally reject the idea of Maliki gaining a third term, even many within his own bloc that are against that idea.
Temporary Finance Committee: Defense and Interior spent since the beginning of this year, five trillion dinars
We're just a temporary committee.....performing temporary duties.....our lot doesn't have a pedigree.....just a temporary committee that has found a way to spend some temporary dinars all the way to the lottery.....just a temporary committee is what we'll be......wow....they managed to spend 5 trillion IQD all the while not really having any authority.....how about that for exercising the rights that you don't have....now they wonder where the money went....incredible.
Citizen Coalition: Maliki should apologise for years in power
Ok OK OK....I'm sorry for all the misery that I have brought to our citizens....I am sorry for the death and killing that happened on my watch.....I'm sorry for spending your money on things for my own benefit.....I'm sorry for fighting so fiercely with the Kurds and the Sunnis, driving so many from their homes.....I'm sorry for all that I have done to members of the Parliament and to my own government over the years....now I've admitted that I am sorry.....can I just have my body guard regiment and all my money and properties and go somewhere so you can prosecute me...I'll even let you have cookies.
MPs and observers: Adoption of the budget is linked to the issue of ending the head of the new government
August 12 is the date set aside supposedly to get the "second" first reading of the 2014 budget completed.....it was read a first time I believe back in January with the old Parliament....but now it seems they will start over again.....but there still remain political differences with the budget that may indeed hinder any progress by the new Parliament.....doesn't surprise me in the least tho....projects remain stalled...salaries continue to go unpaid.....the SOL and Maliki still believe they are in charge....this seems to be sending a rather clear message...change is needed in Iraq, not partial....but complete change to rekindle the idea of moving forward with a unified country.....given that chance....it will be interesting to see what becomes of Iraq.....without that chance....what is there to suggest a change will happen.
Photographer .. The arrival of hundreds of armored wheels and the U.S. to Iraq
Delivery of 250 armored vehicles.....the only thing I will say.....I pray the Iraqi Army is going to take better care of these vehicles than the last group that were lost in Mosul.
Reform Movement: National Alliance will surprise people to choose their candidate during the next two days
NEXT TWO DAYS....the National Alliance is saying they will surprise people within the next TWO DAYS with a choice of their candidate for PM....I'll be the most surprised at all I would think....committing to a hard line date....two days.....is this something they are capable of doing.....well mark your calendars for Thursday and watch what happens.
Start paying the salaries of teachers and employees of the University of Mosul, Tikrit and Kirkuk
Professors and employees will be seeing their salaries after two months without in places like Mosul, Tikrit, and Kirkuk....these areas must not be deemed to be so "hot" as they were a month an half ago.
Are Baghdad’s Arms Deals Legal?
Apparently since the caretaker government took over....after the elections in April....they have extremely limited abilities to purchase certain things like arms, military equipment, ammunition....and the like....but perhaps someone forgot to tell Maliki this and he has been driving forward as though nothing has changed....this is becoming just another push and shove match between blocs who don't seem to understand the meaning of unity....guess who is at the top of all this pushing....Maliki of course.
The sorrow of a peshmerga for this president who says, ‘I am peshmerga’
A plainly written letter to the new Iraqi President...Massoum....a Kurd who is also a Peshmerga....let us pray that his new position does not allow him to forget his roots and allegiance to a fighting force that is second to none in Iraq.
Iran seeking successor to Iraqi PM Maliki: official
Iran is attempting to scuttle Maliki and at the same time find a name that would be worthy of the title Prime Minister of Iraq...but they claim choices are few....still the Iranians are working hard to provide the necessary leverage for Iraq to find the right sort of mix in an individual that will truly lead Iraq towards unity of the country rather than deeper into sectarian strife and fighting.
Abadi alternative Maliki .. The sovereign citizen enjoys his job!
Could Abadi succeed Maliki as PM....would he be the right Shiite candidate to bring about unity that they so sorely are seeking today....one thing seems certain to me....as each day passes Maliki's fortress withers away...brick by brick....his walls of protection are crumbling before him.
Iraqi budget requirements and challenges / Majid picture
Here we sit, 8 months into 2014 and still no budget...in fact the budget seems less visible now than ever.....sure a temporary committee is supposedly looking at the budget...but what power do they have to make or even suggest changes....and who then has the authority to enact any changes agreed up.....there are still political difference from one end of Iraq to the other over many aspects of the 2014 budget....can they honestly say they can get this package approved.....sure Maliki can say that because he has the power to "just make it so".....at least in his mind he does......but what happens with a new PM who must seat a new government....not the Parliament but the COM.....what will they have to say about this budget....and why would they waste any time on it when they will almost immediately be faced with putting together yet another budget...that of 2015....let us pray that while Iraq seeks unity in their government may they also seek strong negotiations powers to meet together in the middle ground and honestly and actively seek a budget that will work for all interests...enough with the pouting and shunning of responsibilities....pray for those who will do what is expected of them....a tall order...but pray for them anyway.
Investors Kurds are demanding compensation of Baghdad up to one billion dollars
Sometimes the Kurds truly amaze me....other times I just have to shake my head at their actions and motives....now they seek $1 billion dollars from Baghdad....what for you ask.....to deal with fighting DAASH and also to house all those Iraqi's who have been displaced because the Iraqi Army could not or would not do its job to start with.
Maliki change .. where is the problem?
An opinion piece that believes Maliki may need to go for the right change to happen within Iraq...but the problem lies in getting him out the door.....he has his tentacles wrapped around so many things and people that it isn't just a measure to say you are no longer wanted or needed....now leave....Maliki will require force I believe to be pushed completely from power....with him it is all about money and power....nothing else...money and power....and the more he has of each the happier he becomes....Maliki and his opponents know too much about each other, they know and understand the weak points, the underbelly that is exposed at times....who will win this war....internal to the National Alliance....can it be summed up in a matter of two days as they predict.
Maliki fights for political life as Sunni insurgency rages
As I mentioned earlier...Maliki is fighting for his lifeline against a growing number of Sunnis, Kurds, terrorists, and even other Shiites, as well as Iran and the Iraqi religious community....all up in arms against his third term attempt.....this man is no good for the future of Iraq....if there was even a sliver of a chance for unity with him there would be some backing, some open backing for him....as it is....no one....not even his own party is wanting to side with him.....his army is in shambles, save for the ones closest to him in Baghdad....his elite....the others have proven to be incapable of fighting even the smallest of terrorist forces.....over all he has become an Iraqi embarrassment...meanwhile violence continues to mount....to the point that US troops and equipment are seen flowing back into Iraq.....after he kicked them out. He knows not what he does, for if he did he would understand the need for greater unity....or he would realize that his clock was about to stop ticking....his political clock.
Security incidents raise prices and threaten extinction (Altibork) and expert warns against politicizing trade
The cost of goods and products are rising in price for the consumer, especially in northern provinces and areas of Iraq.....it is becoming increasingly difficult to get products to market in areas that are either controlled by or throated by terrorist activities....who is to blame for this....Maliki and the Iraqi government....who can fix it....Maliki's replacement and a government that is hell-bent on finding unity amongst its people and political machines....Maliki is not the answer.....he is a big part of the problem for such unrest. Even Mohammed Saleh weighs in on this picture and what he proposes is a fix that will take a year to bring about....but open up the border with Turkey and the ability for air travel into Erbil and other others....but to do either of these will require someone in power that will agree to such.....in all likelihood that will mean a total change in power to remove the sectarian efforts of Maliki against both Kurds and Sunnis so that unity may be found...that will be the slow part of the recovery process, rebuilding trust with both groups by Baghdad going forward.
The Iraqi government allocated 500 billion dinars for the relief to the displaced
