Tonight 5-3-2013 Update from Vic”
Vic said: Hi, I am the wife of the bank programmer- the production load that was scheduled to run last sat is still on hold- no further reason given; all testing is still on hold as well...
Access is lifted, but there is nothing to do if they can't test or load- so all is stagnant...
All the urgency to get this production load done has vanished- very weird; dept remains completely baffled - wish I had more news
Original Post: LAST WEEK
Vic 04/27/2013 2:35am My husband works @ a bank; NOT the usual suspects mentioned on here (-but big enough to Benefit from TARP); anyway, he is a programmer who writes programs that help branches and ATMS.
There are multiple steps, and the programs go thru vigorous testing on test servers, then tested with users on a different server with fake data, then finally production.
I wanted to give you a limitless background so that you vaguely know the process- it's quite extensive, and the first load is a big deal- with a big rigid timeline.

My husband has been working on this program since mid- Feb; they have been doing the testing for the last 2 weeks working like crazy because it production load date is Tomorrow at 6 am.
They have been busting his department's balls for the last month to make sure they are time- they are ready! My hubs had said yesterday that he would be working on sat all day starting @ 5 am.
He got a call from his boss @3pm to be at a conference call at @ 400 from his boss' s boss on Philly and corporate in NYC...the project is stopped dead in its tracks until next weekend( loads can only be on sat morns) they said in meeting they could not be anymore specific except to say " there is to be NO TRAFFIC ON SERVERS THIS WEEKEND AT ALL- and they were very serious.
No testing, no programming, no data movement; access will be denied to all until Monday am. My hubs is VERY pissed especially because they all said it was not their decision, and it WAS OUT OF THERE HANDS!
My husband wanted to know who hands it was in, and was told it was very high up. Folks, my husband has worked there, on the same depr for 21 years- and this has NEVER happened that access was denied or a program load was cancelled.
Most of the sept works from home and they always use the weekend to catch up. My hubs knows nothing about resets or or even Basel lll stuff- it doesn't affect him at all. I just thought this was VERY interesting...
