chattels: Kirk H. Sowell @UticaRisk 7h7 hours ago I think those who read recent events as having strengthened Sadr's position are missing a key point. They overreached hugely.

chattels: Sadr's action may have " unified " elements of the Shia majority against him when they could not otherwise coalesce.
chattels: The other Shia factions together with the Kurds and Sunni may be able to overcome the " rumph Parliament " / rebels / protesters / " oppositional / reform " party to make a quorum.
chattels: " the parliament speaker must be careful as much as possible to gather members of the House of Representatives and overcome the plight of the lack of quorum of 165 to ensure the hearing.

chattels: May 9, 2016, Saving Iraq. What Ayatollah Sistani Can Do.
chattels: Sadr is not Iraq’s savior. He is directly responsible for bloodshed, corruption, and dysfunction in governance, which Iraq has suffered from for more than a decade now.
chattels: The only man who can save Iraq is Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. Unlike the polarizing Sadr, Sistani is widely regarded in Iraq as a reconciler. At 87, the revered and leading clergyman of the Shia Islamic world has functioned as a crucial check on the power of Iraq’s corrupt ruling elite and weak institutions that are paralyzed by ethnic and sectarian divisions.
chattels: Sistani has endorsed the popular demonstrations that have been taking place over the past year and had previously backed Abadi’s reform program. But he has ended his active engagement with the reform campaign out of frustration with the government. Sistani has also demonstrated his discontent with the government by halting his weekly political sermons. This does not bode well for Iraq’s future.
chattels: But this does not mean that Sistani has given up. He could still reverse his decision and, as things stands, remains the only actor that is capable of saving the country.
chattels: Sistani has the know-how and the capacity to save Iraq. He has presided over and sustained a centuries old institution that is currently considered Iraq’s most effective and influential civil society actor.
Contrary to popular wisdom, civil society actors like Sistani and the religious establishment, which are well organized and equipped with sufficient resources and legitimacy, can help improve the behavior of armed nonstate actors and relegate them to the margins.
chattels: Sistani has vast social and religious networks that enable local governance, provide services, and support other public programs such as schools, hospitals, and libraries.
Harnessed the right way, these networks can help lead the way toward establishing a stronger civil society across Iraq, in partnership with other civic organizations.
Collectively, these can spur grassroots politics and good governance initiatives to sideline the militias, and those who fund them, and strengthen the moderates who have the visions and ideas for reforming Iraq.
chattels: MP ruled out for the Kurdistan Alliance Najiba Najib, a meeting of the House of Representatives held in the next few days, stressing that " the conditions of the parliament is very difficult and take a long time to return to normal."
chattels: "it's hard to have a hearing in these days, because there are more than one hundred deputy are Almatmchin boycotted sessions of parliament who do not support the presidency and the legitimacy of Salim al - Jubouri ,
and there are other representatives in favor of the legitimacy of al - Jubouri , but after the storming of the House of Representatives and an affront to the House of Representatives and legislative institution began demanding to reconsider a lot of things,
including the imposition of Ray on the one hand at all Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish parties. " she said Najib" We as Kurds are waiting for the opinion and decision of our leadership stemming from the reality of Iraq , which passes Pthadian two major Daash and economic crisis , indicating that the Kurds still support stability , but that did not there were a response and cooperation and join hands to support the stability and reform , I think there would be no point in holding the parliamentary session.
