It's hump day.....it seems that many things are getting kickstarted today
Economic Committee confirms cooperation with Ministries to upgrade economy
Committees are offering commitments to one another to upgrade the economy.....Economic Committee is agreeing to working with both the Oil and Industry Ministries to assist in working towards decentralization efforts that will improve investment efforts at the province level.
Cabinet confiscates funds of former regime officials
The COM is adopting the law that pertains to seizing and confiscating money that employees and officials from the former regime had taken....they should be very scared right now.
Subjected to sell the dollar, according to supply and demand
Banking experts foresee a reduction in the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar....they continue to state the increase that is seen now will not last very long....largely due to the $67 billion in cash reserves that Iraq currently has.....reducing the gap between the two needs to be subject to the law of supply and demand....dollar sales should be used to import those necessary products while further expansion of imports should be restricted to guard the national products of Iraq.....the rise in the local currency markets is a result of Article 50 in the budget that caps daily currency auctions.
Parliament will hold a panel discussion attended by officials at the United Nations to discuss the law of parties
A panel discussion was held by Parliament today, led by Speaker Jubouri and attended by officials from the UN where the law of parties was discussed...also in attendance were committee members, leaders of all political blocs, academics, judges and university professors....quite the varied crowd no less.....they are headed towards the second reading of this law and they want to be assured that it will not cause disruption with other laws such as the Law of Treaties, laws associated with the Federal Court and Federal Council, social security....and any attempts towards national reconciliation.
The start of the follow-up committee and close political agreement headed Jubouri meeting
The first watchdog committee meeting led by Speaker Jubouri to look back at the efforts made by Parliament over the last period.....in attendance were committee members, heads of committees and political bloc leaders.....the agenda basically was to review the work that was supposed to be conducted during the previous period against what was actually done or completed....readying them for the next phase.
Secretariat of the Council of Ministers : converting industries to the private sector and the elimination of unemployment our priority
With work commencing towards a market economy one of the first things that the General Secretariat of the COM is pushing is the improvement of employment opportunities in the private sector and one way to help with this is the conversion of government industries into businesses of the private sector.....or the sale of these government entities to the private sector and the result of the sales going towards the deficit reduction in the budget.....I see this as a very strong effort towards the market economy for Iraq.
Install contracts the end of next March
The government is attempting to address the number of contract workers they employ and are looking at ways these workers can be made permanent at least out to three years commitment.....what they don't seem to be saying but makes sense is working to identify how many positions actually are justified....this is something that any business should be doing....especially this day and age when so many hire contract labor rather than their own full time employees....whatever the end result....be able to justify those you pay.
The start of official talks between Iraq and Qatar session
President Masum and a number of other Iraqi Ministers were in Qatar today for discussions with their applicable counterparts aimed at enhancing bilateral relationships between the two countries and areas of common interests between the two parties and other members of the region.
Finance: the salaries of the region will be launched within days
The Minister of Finance is saying that salaries will be paid to the region (Kurdistan) as soon as technical differences can be overcome.....some of these differences apparently are related to oil issues.....he has confidence that these salaries will be released within the week.
The Council of Ministers is very dedicated to this February the government program accomplished
The Secretariat General of the COM is confident that the government has completed 100% of what it originally said it would by February 2015....a report will be coming out in early March that details all of the accomplishments and will prove transparency and openness.....they are claiming private sector support by the government, a basket of legislative bills and a continued upgrading of the private sector that will also enhance the economy throughout the country.....PM Abadi's political agreement has achieved a great deal....especially so with regard to combatting DAASH issues and other areas of internal concern for Iraq.
Harthy: the fiscal deficit of the budget gap began to shrink
A member of the Economic Committee sees a total elimination of the budget deficit once the price of oil realigns....he sees this deficit elimination coming in the years 2016 and 2017...seeing also a healthy rise in the economy of Iraq in this time frame.
KRG Presents Kurdish Oil Export Record to Baghdad
Kurd oil has been halted to Turkey due to technical issues being addressed with Baghdad....PM Barzani sees no reason why the Kurds were not paid their share of the budget in January and he will be visiting Baghdad to work through any differences....Erbil is awaiting a reply from Baghdad concerning the report they read to Parliament where there were no questions or issues raised with the report.
Committees oil in parliaments [federal and provincial] are preparing a memorandum of understanding to oversee the oil agreement
The Committee on Oil and Energy is preparing a memorandum of understanding to be presented to Kurdistan regarding oversight of the agreement made between Baghdad and Erbil back in December.....there still seems to be issues about who is in charge of the oil to be exported from the region.....there is talk of using the Committee as a "third party" entity to monitor oil production and exports from the region.
Minister of Labour during a meeting with a US organization calls for the activation of the work in implementing the national employment policy
The Minister of Labor is calling for joint action in the implementation of upcoming national employment policies.....calling for a reactivation of the policy and for a need to update it as well.....many facets of the reform efforts both within Iraq and from outside entities focus upon labor interests for Iraqis.....fully recognizing the unemployment problems they face that need to be overcome as further reform is pushed.
Parliamentary Finance: early next month launch the grades
The Finance Committee is awaiting the publication of the budget in the Gazette to begin work on employment grades....the Finance Ministry will be creating the mechanism and instructions towards these jobs.
Jubouri stresses the need to initiate work quickly to implement the political agreement
Speaker Jubouri is committed to working fast in order to fully implement the political agreements that are meant to stabilize and strengthen the reform process within the country.....stressing not only the watchdog committee's work but also the implementation of signed agreements between political blocs....we should see the formation of sub-committees soon from the sound of things....all positive indicators that work continues towards efforts of the reform.
Abadi's office confirms that the position of reconciliation did not change, but he refuses to reconcile with the hands are stained with the blood of Iraqis
PM Abadi is keen for national reconciliation but has stated he will refuse to reconcile with those who have the blood of Iraqi's on their hands....meaning the Baath party....thus the action by COM in sending laws to Parliament for the National Guard and the banning of the Baath Party....Abadi remains committed to his political promises of six months ago and is attempting to see them followed through for the good of all.
Kurdish delegation led by Barzani's visit to Baghdad on Sunday
Kurdish delegation led by PM Barzani will be in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss a misunderstanding over how much oil Erbil is capable of exporting.....hopeful they can walk away with a bow tied over the whole oil deal.
Premier vows to 'visit' Baghdad for salaries
PM Barzani has vowed that he will visit Baghdad daily to get what his region needs.....employee salaries.....he is stating that Baghdad should not use daily oil calculations but instead should be calculating on a quarterly basis....he remains committed to getting the employee salaries for the Kurdistan.
Organization "Daash" opens private banks in Mosul to the granting of loans and replace damaged currency
So DAASH is attempting to open a bank in Mosul for the granting of loans and replacement of damaged currency.....makes one wonder just how much chance they will have at succeeding with such an effort.....especially with the Kurd Peshmerga and Iraqi Army forces poised to retake Mosul.
