Delays and Disappointments
How many delays and disappointments
Can one human heart patiently take?
I know you are a faithful God
But for me it seems it’s getting too late.
I’ve made my share of wrong turns
And you’ve helped me out of many jams.
But it seems it’s one delay after another,
And again, I have to throw away my plans.
You know I don’t mind serving you
And willingly giving of myself
But I’m wondering when my time will come
And it seems, again, you’ve put me on the shelf.
I know you are fashioning a vessel
That will one day hold your glory
but time and again you flatten me down
Only to add another chapter to the story.
Spinning and spinning on your potter’s wheel
Your hands do reform and reshape
a vessel you one day will put on display
And by your timing it won’t be too late.
Your ways are not my ways, Lord.
Your plans are not my plans -
But in the end all things are beautiful
That are fashioned by the Master’s Hands.
