tman23 says():SULAIMANI, Iraq’s Kurdistan region,— A female Kurdish journalist from Kurdistan TV, which is close to KDP party, was hospitalized on Thursday after Kurdish security PUK forces attacked her while she was covering a football match in the city of Sulaimani. The Metro Center for Journalists’ Rights and Advocacy said violations against media freedom are on the rise in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
“Our sports reporter Nashmil Mohammed was prevented from filming and covering the match and attacked by security forces,” said Hoshyar Aziz, the head of Kurdistan TV’s office in Sulaimani, cited by Metro Center.
Mohammed is now in a coma at Sulaimani Emergency Hospital, Aziz told the advocacy center. The journalist’s mother confirmed to NRT her daughter is still in a coma. Other journalists were reportedly attacked as well.
Sulaimani province is under control of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan PUK
tman23 says():Iraqi Kurdistan parliamentarian warns of civil war in Kurdistan region
tman23 says():Have to keep an eye on the PKK situation....... They are considered a sponsored terrorist group. The popular crowd which is much of Iran is sponsoring the PKK.......... So look at the past week.....
PKK fires shots at Peshemerga in Sinjar wounding 3....... The PUK Peshmerga shut down Kirkut northern oil exports for 3 hours....then gave Baghdad demands........
Now through several northern cities the PUK Peshmerga has placed PKK groups of fighters, which some are seen with iranian militia........
The US said to the KDP that PKK needs to be out of these area in Iraq......YET the PUK immediately starts strategic placement of PKK.......PUK is under Iranian influence....... EVERYTIME something is about to change for the good.....
The powerful tribals.....such as Talibanis' wife make a move to upset the agenda........ Barzani just broke up a meeting of PUK and PKK in Erbil which was under disguise as being something else.........
Barzani has announce elections this comimg October....the electoral board announced the funding has been provided...... The PUK and Gorran have been calling for it.....
NOW they are not so happy about it........ Right back to the Saprano's.......and who is willing to give up control of what territory.........
Civil war seems unlikely.......BUT a scrimmage with gun battle between sides for a short time appears likely.......Iran/Maliki/Popular Crowd will see to it........ Keep eyes wide open in the north..........
admin says():While ai appreciate your commentary - I tend to differ.
admin says():Short term - and for us... IMHO the most important factor is Mosul. We will see exactly what the world powers have meant by their rhetoric very soon. Regarding the budding alliance between Maliki - the PKK - and Iran... I am not that concerned. No matter how rich Maliki is, he will very lucky to not stand trial on international crimes very - very soon.
admin says():so that leaves the PKK and Iran - what's new about that??
admin says():"The Popular Crowd" rhetoric is just that - they use that term so as not to use the term Shia superiority. I get tired of it... and tired of Hader Sumeri (on twitter) being looked as like some kind of hero - he's a Shia propaganist STOOGE.
admin says():most of what he says of tweets is all Shia bent - much of it is not accurate.
admin says():according to reliable news sources the Shia elements are being held back as the 4th or 5th string... mainly becaus they can't be trusted to not commit atrocities when no one is looking.
larrykn says():I don't know but I just can't see the US letting Iran come into Iraq an take over, I believe that is why the US is going to keep US troops over there like all the other countries we have take in battle before. the US will not let Iraq fall. IMO
Doug_W says():agreed Larry 100%
admin says):and quite honestly - I'm not sure any of this internal political wrangling has much direct impact on the economic, currency and banking reform - which seems to be FULL STEAM AHEAD.
admin says to larrykn():(y)
Doug_W says():it is stunning to me how one of the "richest nations on Earth" can have a currency worth .00086 cents
larrykn says to Doug_W():not for much longer :)
Doug_W says():indeed Larry
tman23 says():Based on the footage released by Iraqi activists, the cousin of the terror group's leader was arrested inside the recently liberated Jawsaq District of western Mosul, Al-Masdar reported.
The Iraqi Armed Forces launched the last phase of their Mosul offensive earlier this month, targeting the last half of the city that is under the control of the terrorist group.
On Thursday, the Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) liberated the strategic Bashiqa area, resulting in the complete encirclement of the ISIL’s stronghold of Tal Afar.
larrykn says to Doug_W():IMO Mosul falls ,,, we see what we want
Mudder says to larrykn():End of the month right Larry...lol
Doug_W says):Very soon after
admin says to Mudder():"in the coming days"
larrykn says to:I have no idea when
admin says to Mudder():first part of 2017
admin says to Mudder():on the horizon...
Doug_W says():my poor dog ate left over sour Kraut yesterday and now I can't stand to be in here with him
tman23 says():Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has called on the US to reduce its military presence in Iraq as Washington has begun a surge of troops in the face of Daesh terrorists facing a final rout in the country.
“As we are crushing Daesh, it is clear that there is a need to reduce the number of our allies who are helping us,” Abadi told the Middle East Eye news portal.
He made the remarks ahead of his visit to Washington to meet US President Donald Trump.
"Daesh is about to collapse and is on the verge of defeat. Their family members are fleeing,” he said.
Abadi, however, noted that Baghdad wants the US to expand its training of the Iraqi army, federal police and local police
Doug_W says():that is MY Crisis today LOL
larrykn says to Doug_W():
lol , you did it :D
Doug_W says():as Digi wold say "Sure blame teh dog"
admin says to tman23():These are comments by Abadi courting the hard-liner Shia side of his support base. No way in the world does he really need that to happen... real world - we're going to have several MAJOR bases in the Iraq area. One being a winding up the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad soon. You watch.
admin says to tman23():There is some internal re-aligning of the "Shia Stars" - so to speak... externally it will matter little. I look to see Sadr align with Abadi soon. He's been gaining some serious political ground lately. Insiders are of the viewpoint that he may well outstrip both Maliki and Hakim in Shia political influence soon.
larrykn says to admin():I don't think Iraq has much choice on if the US will allow troops to stay in Iraq or not. Obama was to weak on this issue but Trump will not back down imo
larrykn says to admin():I think this will be worked out next week in Wash.
Doug_W says():they NEED us Larry
Doug_W says():as much as we need their oil at least 4 now till we increase domestic production
larrykn says to Doug_W():yes they do , an Iran needs to know who is incharge over there
Doug_W says():I ran knows believe me!
Doug_W says():they don't like it but they know
larrykn says to Doug_W():I don't see any more missles flying around anymore too
clay01 says to Doug_W():Hey W., contrary to the oil statement, we do NOT need their oil, we can produce more than we need right now

Doug_W says():hate that saying
Doug_W says():that is like SOON
dinarstudent says():who care about thr rv today . lets eat cornbeef , drink green beer and do the do the river dance .lol
tman23 says():Complicated territory, no doubt !! ........... And negotiating with leaders who appear to be bi-polar and manic makes for an even bigger challenge........
They are like watching 2 small children playing and laughing together and in a split second out of nowhere they are pulling hair and in a raging battle........ A special group of people.......LOL
Mudder says():I didn't say it... Just repeating...lol
clay01 says to Mudder():So what is your prediction

tman23 says():KIRKUK, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Provincial Council expects to hold a session on Sunday to decide on raising Kurdistan national flag next to the Iraqi flag on all government buildings in Kirkuk.
The Governor of Kirkuk, Najmaddin Karim, has asked the head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council (KPC) to hold a special session on this issue, aiming to gain a majority vote among council members in order to enact the decision.
Governor Karim also highlighted the use of the Kurdish language on official government and institutional documents. He contends that documents should be in both Arabic and Kurdish, not only in Kirkuk, but in all provinces of Iraq, as underlined in the Iraqi constitution.
“Soon, we will hold a session to regain the constitutional rights [to use the Kurdish language in official documents] that they [the Federal Government] have retaken from us. We will discuss the issue soon in a session and we look forward to winning the majority of votes to gain our rights, which has not been implemented by the Federal Government,” said the head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Rebwar Talabani.
“The Federal Government of Iraq must respect its constitution and laws, and start to adopt them,” Karim told reporters in Kirkuk on Thursday. “We as the people of Kurdistan and as the Kurdish nation should insist on this. We can’t move with it just because it has become a routine,” he said, referring to laws and constitutional articles ignored by the Federal Government.
