loop says):This is right out of one of the LOI in the IMF SBA.
clay says to loop():where did this one come from
Article quotes: “Since more than four years and officials in Iraq are talking about a project monetary reform in which to raise the Iraqi currency exchange rate against the dollar so that the new dinar equals 1.2 dinars to the dollar instead of 1200.
Doug_W says():"so that the new dinar equals 1.2 dinars to the dollar instead of 1200." that is confusing 2 me
loop says():It's an economist's opinion piece. It is loaded with factual information and his reasoning is very sound.
clay says to loop():ok thanks
clay says to loop():wasn't sure where it came from
clay says to loop():wish the CBI
Doug_W says):so is he saying $.83 ?
clay says to loop):no
clay says to loop(): 1.2
loop says to Doug_W():it's either .83 or $1.20
loop says to Doug_W():1/.83= 1.20
clay says to loop():His opinion is that .83333 cents to the dollar would be more managable. [So the exchange rate would be 1/.83 = $1.20. 1 divided by .83…In USD]
loop says to clay():The main thing to remember is the whatever rate that the CBI comes out with has to be defendable by the reserves and economic activity (GDP).
The countires that they do business with also have to except the new rate. If they came out too high it would reduce the cost of imported goods, however the exports, outside of Oil and Natural gas, would be to expensive, without the GoI subsidizing those products.
Doug_W says():thanks Loop
clay says to loop():he ll I'd take 1.20 today
Doug_W says():Id take .83
clay says to Doug_W():I'd cash in some at that rate
clay says to Doug_W():hold the rest for 90 days
Doug_W says():enuff to ge out of debt then hold rest
clay says to Doug_W():yep same here
clay says to Doug_W():and a steak and lobster diner
Doug_W says():gotta get these darn teeth right first but then YES
clay says to Doug_W():now I'm starving (lol)
clay says to Doug_W():thought it was done
Doug_W says():one os the pegs is badly iritated gonna call dentist 2 see what IF anything can be done?
clay says to Doug_W():good luck buddy
clay says to Doug_W():you dont want an abcess
loop says to clay():When they have an accurate figure for their natural resources and their GDP grows to reflect the true value of the country so will the value of their currency IMO. This is why I plan on investing some of this back into Iraq in some fashion, because that is where the real money will be made.
clay says to Doug_W():the question is what to invest in
Doug_W says():watch N stay informed Clay
clay says to Doug_W():and far or close are we to this happening
clay says to Doug_W():yep
tman23 says():Fall 2012, Iraq was estimated to have a worth of 16 trillion dollars....... NO GUESSING, THAT FIGURE WENT TO WASHINGTON DC........
Right after the release of that figure...... Donald trump tweeted....... US National Debt 16 trillion dollars.....Iraq estimated worth 16 trillion dollars....INTERESTING !!! .....
I posted that in forum back then.....I will see If I can pull it up from archives....... It certainly appeared back then that Trump found the "coincidence" quite interesting......
NWBeauty says():suggest investing in infrastructure PHONES water electric et al
clay says to NWBeauty():thanks :)
clay says to tman23():GM very interesting
Mudder says():So I guess the question is - Is iraq worth 20 trillion NOW???? Maybe Trump will tweet it as soon as it hits the 20 mark...
clay01 says():16 Trillion divided by an estimated 4 trillion dinar in circulation ( best guess according to recent numbers I could find, but you get my point here) would be a value of 4 dinars to the dollar, over simplied I know, please don't shoot me, but.............something to think about
Mudder says():so value of 2012 to amount of dinar now..... Please don't rack your brain with these types of numbers. Your head might start hurting....lol
tman23 says():Today we have Trump making the comment.....We should have taken Iraq's oil...the spoils of war !! Mattis gets off a plane in Baghdad and says.....We are not here to take your oil........
Meantime IMF has granted loans to Iraq with binding stipulations.....the US has guaranteed Iraq bonds....... In Munich, Barzani comes out and says he no longer views Iraq as a statehood.....
(Here is the definition): the status of being a recognized independent nation........ Now RECALL that when the GOI was making these deals with IMF, World Bank, and USA....we heard a lot of chatter of "selling our soul" and not good for us..... BUT in the end they signed the dotted line.......
And IMO this is why Barzani said what he said.....and why he said: The central government is no longer strong..... (lost much of it's power)....... concluded with......everyone has the right to self determination
Here is the definition.....the process by which a country determines its own statehood and forms its own allegiances and government........ So one could also conclude that Barzani is also referring to Kurdistan......But IMO it is a combination of both.....
clay says to clay01()::@
clay says to clay01():(lol)
jeffusa says():Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government forces regained control Monday over another district in western Mosul, killing a senior leader as it advances to the center of the city.
“The Federal Police’s Rapid Response forces have liberated the Josaq district, and have also taken control over the fourth bridge from the western side,” head of the Joint Operations Command’s operations in Nineveh, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Yarallah, said in a statement.
Yarallah was referring to one of the five bridges linking eastern and western Mosul above the Tigris River. The bridges were partially destroyed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes during operations in eastern Mosul to hinder attempts by Islamic State fighters to escape to the west. Iraqi commanders said recently they were planning to erect a bridge across the river to allow military supplies into the west.
clay01 says():.......and we know their oil reserves are up, they are producing natural gas and exporting it, which they were not in 2012, they have started diversifing their economy, making their dependance on oil less, have started exporting other natural resources as well, so I would have to say that their "worth" from 2012 has not gone down, maybe even gone up, from 2012
jeffusa says():Also on Monday, a local source told Alsumaria News that the Islamic State’s designated “emir” of Dawasah district in central Mosul was killed along with three companions as they exchanged fire with security forces. Government troops have recaptured much of Dawasah since Sunday.
Federal Police chief, Shaker Jawdat, said 120 IS fighters were killed as forces advanced and became 250 meters away from Dawasah.
Earlier on Monday, the joint command said it had retaken al-Tayaran neighborhood, which extends close to the recently-recaptured Mosul Airport.
Josie says():Big numbers of ISIS killed in Mosul over the weekend. Starting to sound like a turkey shoot.
jetset says to Josie():lock & load!
