Post From KTFA By Aggiedad77 News & Summaries
I'm back finally, now for the rest of today's (Monday's) news summaries:
The end of the first round of talks between Barzani and al-Shahristani, and the second will be held this evening
Well my guess is there was nothing fruitful coming out of this first meeting.....at least they didn't say that one side got up and walked out on the other.....or that someone took a swing at the opposing side......gotta always look for the positive in things....maybe they will be more relaxed as they meet again in the evening.
Statement of the IPO shares to increase the company Ashur International Bank with effect from Wednesday, 1/15/2014
IPO announced for Ashur International Bank....well I am a bit skeptical about the date of this IPO.....just proof of more banks moving into town.

Iraq in the white list of international shipping this year
Sometimes the titles of these articles can lead one to think....oh this is a done deal.....but in this case Iraq is still busily at work to ensure it finds a place again on the IMO White List for their southern ports in Basra.....this should be happening late this year or early next year.
Moqtada al-Sadr's political exit may be 'gift' to Iraqi rivals
It would appear that Maliki may have gotten a boost in his election war chest with the exit of Sadr from the political scene....this particular exit seems to be more serious than previous attempts to walk away....that coupled with a number of MP's in the movement also resigning their posts in Parliament make it seem like it will be the final exit for him.
Deputy for Law: unfair to receive a pension MP $ 7 or 8 million dinars for the service four years
Well this lady may not be very happy about what happened in the voting that took place with the Retirement Law....but it has now been ratified by the Presidency of the Republic and all that remains for it is publication in the Official Gazette in the next couple of days......I don't see anyone stepping up to the plate to resign their MP position over this issue.
Anbar Humanitarian Crisis Situation Report #10
To date, statistics show that over 62,000 families have been displaced from Anbar....they have gone to other provinces and some have even traveled as far as Jordan for refuge....meanwhile the fighting continues.
Maliki's coalition distancing himself and accuse the Kurds are united and blocking adoption of the budget
It is always wise and customary to point the finger at the other guy.....NOT.....but that appears to be what Maliki and his State Law group are doing with both the Kurds and the Coalition United bloc that walked out of Parliament back in early January citing lack of movement on Maliki's part in their amnesty issues and issues associated with the fighting in Anbar....
now with both of these groups not attending Parliament....a quorum is impossible to achieve.....if one or the other will attend then they have a quorum....unless the resignations by some of the Sadrists create yet another issue.
MEED Guide to Doing Business: Seize the Iraq opportunity
I almost drove right by this article...first glance made me think it was going to be a historical expose on the election process,
but it actually has some interesting morsels in it......Iraq is one of the most fastest growing emerging markets of the world....the Kurds offer stability and relative safety.....to the south....
in Baghdad a RAFT of NEW LEGISLATION as they move forward into the future....those companies that are willing to jump in quick and can handle the risk, are sure to make mucho dinero as the infrastructure continues to progress and get back on its feet.
Oil Minister: a delegation of Kurdistan and the center did not reach resolve on budget 2014
Well much ado about nothing so far......two meetings today and nothing forthcoming....but at least they are meeting....no dates of the next round of meetings either.....and I've heard rumor that the Kurds have either returned home....or will be going back home before another meeting....
.what happened to all day meetings, the kind where you take your tie or turban off, roll up your sleeves, spill a bit of mustard on your shirt from sandwiches brought in for lunch, and belch stale coffee as the afternoon starts to wane.....those were the days.
Arbil: the position of Baghdad and al-Shahristani, a positive meeting today and we have another round
Well I posted this article because I thought from the title that they may have indeed announced a date for a future meeting....but having read through its entirety there was NO mention of such......there is several points in the article that indicated that things were progressing positively, just no agreements at this time.
Financial representative presented a plan of action to strengthen economic activity
Remember something that NOVA stated in a CC and I think has stated on the forum as well.....the World Bank is coming to Iraq....Iraq is not going to the WB......
the WB recognizes that Iraq has something that the WB is vitally interested in.....revenues...remember also that no bank is in business to just give money away....there are always strings attached....
.like interest rates and other small details...and this workshop where the WB was in attendance....didn't come with a cheap price tag either I think....
this article talks about the Finance Committee's roadmap.....I feel reasonably sure that probably originated with the CBI....whatever they are cooking.....it needs to gel with the CBI's game plan going forward too...IMO.
Private banks will proceed to implement the instructions of the Central
Turki is talking.....to some circles.....showing how the actions of the CBI in conjunction with the deposits of the banks of Iraq are going to help ENHANCE the Iraqi currency against foreign currencies.....enhance....
generally means to me to make something better to improve....and in addition....these procedures of the CBI will be supportive of the national economy as well as the process of development....
this speaks boldly to the actions of the CBI.....trust in us they are telling the banking community.....trust in us they are telling the GOI, and the Finance Committee.....
.IMO.....let this percolate for a short while....two weeks.....maybe...hopefully less and we will start to see some results from their efforts.
Well that is the rest of the news summaries for this Monday. Randy
