Political blocs in Nineveh refuse to postpone their provincial council elections
Nineveh/the Obelisk: Political parties rejected participation in provincial elections in Nineveh, Monday, urging the Province to postpone elections for the provincial Council set for mid-April sighting the unstable security situation in Nineveh.
Spokesman Ghazi returned with a statement obtained by Obelisk news that said – He was surprised by the request of one of the party’s in Nineveh to request postponement of our local elections under the pretexts of allegations; asking us not to promote our national responsibility to public demands for democratic change for our country and he said he found it strange that the party’s urging for delay due to the unstable security situation in the province and that is contrary to truth, they must have forgetting that the circumstances of the election that took place in the years 2005-2009-2010 were much more serious than now and they will not consider postponing elections '.
He said our overall security situation is characterized as a controlled environment that is completely distinct and noticeable from the negative security situation we are seeing in other provinces and they are note attempting postponement."

He said there a claims that the UNHCR lacks the staffing as 105 staffers are preparing for elections for our 27,000 citizens, which they say is a violation but in our Nineveh office we have 1200 employee reservist who stand at the ready to be utilized, which refutes this claim false."
He added that 'the request to postpone the elections expresses their DESPAIR in obtaining good results and they seek to postpone as that time will allow for them to change their image that lies in destabilizing Iraq but convince the masses demanding change of a possibility of using the democratic approach and the ballot box to switch from the possibility of closing the door on the democratic process and veer away from it to achieve their goals.’
ELECTIONS ARE VITAL FOR THE SURVIVAL OF IRAQ. NINEVAH PROVINCE, ONE OF THE SAFEST HAS BEEN ASKED BY MEMBERS OF SHI’A PARTIES TO POSTPONE THE ELECTIONS TO FURTHER PROCRASTINATE AND DISSUADE CITIZENS FROM DEMOCRACY. IF THEY CAN HOLD THINGS OFF LONG ENOUGH FOR THE PEOPLE TO LOSE INTEREST IN DEMOCRACY AND THEY MAY TRY AND TAKE THINGS BACK TO THE WAY THEY ONCE WERE. SHARIYA LAW WILL PREVAIL AND DICTATORSHIP COULD RESURFACE. BUT THE PEOPLE OF NINEVAH SAY THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FALL FOR THIS TRICK, THEIR ELECTIONS WILL COMMENCE ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE. ONLY A FEW WANT TO SEE THIS ELECTION IN THE PROVINCE FAIL AND MALIKI IS BEHIND THAT DRIVE. I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT PEOPLE IN IRAQ ARE FOR VOTING…THEY MUST DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO CREATE VOTER INTEREST AFTER THE FIASCO THAT HAVE BEEN THE LAST 7 YEARS. THEY HAVE BEEN ADVERTISING AND INFORMING THE CITIZENRY OF THE COMING EVENT AND HOW VERY IMPORTANT IT IS TO EXPERIENCE CHANGE. THEY DO HAVE A BAD TASTE IN THEIR MOUTH SINCE MALIKI STOLE HIS SECOND TERM ONLY TO CONTINUE HIS INACTION THE SAME AS HIS FIRST TERM, HENCE THE REASON FOR ELECTING ALLAWI’S PARTY AS MAJORITY. WE WILL WATCH AND SEE AS ELECTIONS ARE GETTING CLOSER TO LEARN WHAT WILL OCCUR IN A LITTLE MORE THAN A MONTH FROM NOW!!!!
