1bobby says():With Sullivan coming out and saying Iraq has developed "rapidly and significantly" over a short period of time gives us an indication of the measures the CBI has taken that we don't normally see in articles.
FATF (Financial Action Task Force) was formed during the 80's at a G7 Summit and was asked to come up with initiatives to combat money laundering and after the Sept 11 attacks they were asked to incluide terrorism financing as well.
There are currently 35 member jurisdictions, including the U.S, China, Germany etc and 2 regional orginazations, the EU and Gulf Co-Operation Council
1bobby says():What I see in this article is that the U.S Treasury is wanting Iraq's banking industry to step up and achieve the standards that are accepted by the FATF.
We are seeing that through training programs with orginizations like ACAMS (Association of Money Laundering Specialists) which the Iraqi Banking Sector completed it's 2nd training seminar back in August of 2016 which was a 5 day session that included 23 represenitives from 16 government and privates banks as well as money transfer companies.
1bobby says():Couple this with all the training KPMG has been involved with and as Sullivan states, they are making great strides. Now obviously the CBI auctions have been called into question but we also see the CBI taking action against those Banks/individuals who are violating the "check and verify" policy
To show the importance that the advancement of the banking sector is not just limited to the AML, economist and banker Samir Nasiri said that the reason for the lack of implementation of the economic strategy to visualize the lack of a clear implementation, stressing that there are significant challenges facing the banking sector in Iraq after the financial and security crisis in the country.
So again while the monetary (CBI) and economic (GOI) reforms are somewhat seperate, they do run parallel and one can not out run or slow the other.
1bobby says():Any ?'s

ABNewsflash says():What the coming war in Iraq?
03/08/2017 16:37:56 BAGHDAD / obelisk:
ABNewsflash says():Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, on Wednesday, 08 March 2017 confirmed that Iraq will not hesitate to strike at terror sites in neighboring countries, if they threaten the security of Iraq.
It did not specify the Iraqi Prime Minister, certain countries, though named Syria, which is evidence that Iraq has become the strength and capabilities sufficient for deterrence in the vital area he deems important to national security, wherever it was.
ABNewsflash says():The new Iraqi force, worry regional countries, have long found themselves a player Oouhda in the region despite the humility that small size, is reminiscent of that of Iraq, and the disease it is recovering, thanks to the role that it deserves.
My fight against terrorism, and the popular crowd, and the Iraqi army, there is no doubt that it is stronger today strong ground in the region, tried, and her great achievements, which is what worries players from around Iraq.
ABNewsflash says():Iraq will have imposed themselves liberalization of Mosul, where certain countries have sought to postpone at least, while not able to disable it, as this will have emerged by forcing everyone to subservience to the participation of the popular crowd in Mosul battles.
The liberalization of Mosul signs, not to liberate the land, but the ministry of the Iraqi citizen of the state of "despair" that flooded selves that "no point in everything," and that "Iraq is to end."
ABNewsflash says():Now the situation is changing, and you should take advantage of the new situation, not only in war, but also in the reconstruction.
ABNewsflash says():And also..
Just as the government has succeeded in rallying for freedom from Daesh, bloody war, Iraq has proven the ability to achieve victory, the internal battle ahead of us, must be resolved with the same determination.
ABNewsflash says():It's war on corruption, terrorism and kegs, and all those who seek to undermine Iraq, economical and geographical history.
The next stage is the stage of beatings with an iron fist, the Doaash politics, and cans, terrorism, corruption and mafias.
It is a war not less virulent for the eradication Daesh, will culminate in victory after the Iraqi shifts from "despair" to "hope" and "defense" to "attack" and "very suspicious" to "self-confidence".
ABNewsflash says():Let's unite again, generally these enemies, Valssayas corrupt and sectarian, and the instigator of the partition and division, no less dangerous than Daesh, and must be thrown with determination, "Mknosa" of Iraqi ground like Aldoaash heads.
Iraq today Linzhi victory, and Pat knows where eaten shoulder, an opportunity to grow confidence trees, block the sun from the thorns of despair.
MadDScout says():Don't despair
MadDScout says():theres hope is the take away

ABNewsflash says():For these reasons cigarettes prices fell, despite the imposition of taxes
Thursday 9 March 2017 | 12:24 | Number of readings: 152 economic Baghdad:
BAGHDAD / ...
ABNewsflash says():Economic Committee in the Baghdad Provincial Council made it clear on Thursday that the rivalry between the merchants and the fact that what is being offered more than what is required has led to a decline in some of the cigarettes prices, as explained that the cigarettes trade market is no longer a monopoly on certain traders as they were in the past , confirmed that the taxes a big role in rising or falling prices.
A member of the Committee on the Alkraawi's "Eye of Iraq News," "The rivalry between the merchants and the fact that what is being offered more than what is required has led to a decline in some of the cigarettes prices in the markets," noting that "any commodity was facing high aspect ratio versus demand ratio will attest decrease prices automatically. "
ABNewsflash says():He explained Alkraawi, that "cigarettes trade market is no longer a monopoly on certain traders as they were in the past where the market saw the entry of many traders, which sharpened the rivalry between them," adding that "tax big role in rising or falling prices as well."
The markets have seen some decline in prices of cigarettes, despite the imposition of taxes in the budget in 2017 ended two
MadDScout says():competition because of the influx of traders
MadDScout says():and the tax causing prices to fall
MadDScout says():I know is only cigarettes now but could be an indicator
MadDScout says():of things to come
ABNewsflash says to MadDScout():Looks like we are starting to see an indication on some of the prices on goods coming down,cause if the ciggs are dropping in prices.That wouldnt be the only thing going down in price?
Dinar Dave says():Smokes and Booze
MadDScout says to Dinar Dave():(y) The bread of life

ABNewsflash says to Pablo():Fire away
Pablo says():In regards to earlier news, if the budget is starting to be opened, will they be opening it with the new rate?
ABNewsflash says to Pablo():Not at this moment in time
MadDScout says to Pablo():Rate is something subject to conditions needing to be met not something already in the budget
MadDScout says to Pablo():Make sense?
MadDScout says to Pablo():(y)

MadDScout says to Charlie&Gracie():Our pleasure
Pablo says():I've noticed prices coming down on items, is that part of an increasing dinar, or is that more supply-demand stuff?
MadDScout says to Pablo():I think there are many factors
MadDScout says to Pablo():some as pointed out tonight is an influx of new merchants
MadDScout says to Pablo():competition
MadDScout says to Pablo):Also the street rate is getting stronger
sagecanyon says():Great newstime guys and girls! Thank You! Appreciate all your hard work! I love the part that they are ready to defend their country.
Suprkat says to sagecanyon():You're welcome and thank you for joining us tonight!!
sagecanyon says():Amazing what they have accomplished in 2 years...just amazing
MadDScout says to sagecanyon():You're welcome
MadDScout says to sagecanyon():isn't it?
Pablo says():Which brings another point, if the street rate is gettng stronger, why not bump up the official rate to reflect it?
MadDScout says to sagecanyon():That was also pointed out in the reports to make the progress they have is not common
MadDScout says to Pablo():Many factors
MadDScout says to Pablo():not any one disembodied event or point
Pablo says to MadDScout():But all those many factors are creating a common result, an increasing street rate. You'd think that as time goes on and the street rate keeps going up that the CBI would up the official rate to refect that.
Dinar Dave says to MadDScout():Pablo wants it now.... Not when they plan to do it.... MAKE IT HAPPEN...lo
