Millionday Roundtable 1/24/14
[millionday] here we go with something we certainly did not know look at this >>>>>
[millionday] Criticized House Speaker Osama Najafi Prime Minister General Commander of the Armed Forces Nouri al-Maliki to implement the ongoing military operations in Anbar province against armed groups without reference to the House of Representatives.
Nujaifi said in an interview conducted in Washington, which is currently being visited "We Anard the war against terrorism, but the prime minister acted alone in this case and it was taking the approval of Parliament."

[millionday] "We support the parking clans with army forces but that do not use this movement politically or electorally or instigate a time tight before the election, then it is it a big question mark and talking about the framework of breach of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of his powers and is supposed to be like so operations with the approval of Parliament."
The Najafi said that "a military solution alone will not eliminate terrorism and there political solutions," noting "that, to prevent terrorism in Anbar should be left fighting al Qaeda for the year as managed previously by forming forces self-protection of those areas and fighting years of Anbar and clans Qaeda
They tried before and that where they were victorious, and we reward the sons of these areas and appreciate their efforts by creating balance in the security forces and the things we need in the face of terrorism.
[millionday] so wow would be the word here -- maliki had no approval for the military action in Anbar and they are saying that it was all done as grandstanding for election time
[Danalivin4HIM] wonder who he took lessons from*
[millionday] going completely against the rules -- and with no consent to parliament is without a doubt -- a problem for maliki
[millionday] good point -- smile
[horsegal] Do the Iraqis have any recourse against Maliki for this?
[dovi] considering how Maliki was desperate to get attention, and seeing how its backfiring on him, wonder if he'll consider pulling that RV switch for political gain...
[millionday] we remember that the UN and many countries are involved in what they are referring to -- the war on terrorism -- really bad move on his part
[millionday] we shall see if they sweep it under rug or if he is
[msboomshakalaka] I think they should DEMAND an RV:|
[dovi] msboomshakalaka second the motion
[rudie] *let me know how that works for ya msboomshakalaka
[millionday] they should demand it -- they are ready and now with the banking act being demanded -- hmmm
[millionday] msboomshakalaka smile brb with more
[millionday] here is how they feel in the south about their share of oil distribution and also the need for a huge hurry
[millionday] Iraq’s southern provinces have warned that they may stop the flow of oil from fields in their region if their demand for a fair share of the country’s oil revenues is ignored, said Hassan Toran, Governor of the southern Province of Dhi Qar.
“If the demand by southern provinces for a fair share of oil royalties is not heeded, I cannot rule out their resort to other means like halting oil production,” Toran said.
Toran said southern provinces should be treated like the Kurdish region which gets 17% of the hard cash the country earns from oil exports. The region comprises the three provinces of Dahouk, Arbil and Sulaimaniya.
[millionday] We may also deduct our fair share from oil revenues directly if our demands are not met. We need justice in the distribution of oil wealth.
We should be treated like the Kurdish region,” Toran said.
Nearly 90% of Iraq’s oil output of more than three million barrels a day originates in the south where some of the world’s richest and most prolific oil wells are situated.
Toran said discussions among the southern provinces of Basra, Dhiqar and Missan were going on to formulate “a united stand” and present it to the government.
[millionday] in other words -- they are demanding it -- they are demanding the economic reform and the movement of money anyway and that is huge pressure
[millionday] He said the country’s oil wealth – which currently brings more than $100 billion to Iraq – should be distributed in a just and fair manner.
“We should be treated in the same manner the Kurdish region is handled in terms of entitlement to oil wealth,” he added.
Toran said it was “illogical” to see the Kurdish region getting 17% of the country’s oil wealth at a time the Kurdish “contribution to the national budget is much less than that of the southern provinces.”
Under the so-called ‘petrodollar project’ oil-producing provinces are entitled to $2 per each barrel they produce but Toran said they were only getting $1 for each barrel. He said the first step for the government would be to honor commitments under provincial rules which call for the allocation $5 per barrel to the producing provinces.
[millionday] very interesting to say the least --- people seem demanding today --smile --
[millionday] maliki has agreed to the 5$ so we should see some type of response --- remember we have tuesday for the approval but they just may move that forward -- we shall see
[millionday] we do have this coming up right around the corner
[millionday] Confirmed a member of the Commission on oil and energy parliamentary Susan Saad, said the oil-producing provinces will have a firm position towards the right granted to it constitutionally and legally.
Said Saad said in a statement, "journalist", on Thursday: There should be directed serious and real about the allocation of five dollars at the conference to be held In Basra on Saturday, indicating that the granting of these allocations is a popular demand because it contributes significantly to the development of the province, service, and exchange five dollars for the provinces producing oil is to give a right.
[millionday] stressed: the need to address the conference include the relevant laws in this regard and to take on himself to internationalize the issue legally, regardless of the amount that the province acted five dollars or one dollar, given that there is a future service projects each province need dedicated funds in advance.
[millionday] so we have an oil summit /get together on Saturday -- nice timing on the agreement for the oil proceeds -- but of course he had already agreed to it -- smile
DBJJ] millionday That's a new one...hadn't heard of that conference before
[millionday] so we also have the end of the economic summit tomorrow -- it isnt going to go very well if everyone is screaming they are going to quit production—smile - brb with more
[millionday] i dont know if you have seen this >>>>>> The President of the House of Representatives Osama Najafi and U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, on Thursday, the need for the enactment of the oil and gas, confirming the support of various clans requirements necessary to fight al Qaeda in Anbar.
The office said Najafi in a statement received "tomorrow's Press," that "Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama Abdul Aziz Najafi met today in Washington with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden,"
noting that "The meeting discussed the main issues on the Iraqi arena and in the forefront of the crisis In Anbar, as the two sides stressed the importance of supporting the needs of the various tribes needed to fight al-Qaeda. "
[millionday] He pointed out that "the two sides stressed the need to hold elections timing nor scheduled for next April, and the study of all aspects affecting its progress,"
noting that "the two sides stressed also the need for the enactment of the oil and gas because of its direct impact on the distribution of wealth among the provinces."
[millionday] so we have complete confusion if you ask me --- maliki in iraq reporting that the committee is how they are dealing with oil and gas and biden and najafi stating that the law has to be put in place --
[dlherm] Well i am certainly confused!!!* *
[millionday] for the immediate answer -- they are having the committee but najafi should obviously stay home -- seems as though they have a failure to communicate
Danalivin4HIM] too many cooks in the kitchen maybe
[dovi] too many quacks in the guvmint
[millionday] way too many has been the problem --
[dlherm] What else is new?
