LAWS are a big one....what is happening....what do we see...what do we hear.....as Z says the best path to success is through silence.....silence can be golden....silence can be rewarding....so says the hunter who bags his game by being diligent and more wary than his opponent.....keep in mind as you hunt....the BEST is yet to come.
..aovernmh Economic reforms issued treasury bonds and selling of oil reserves in order to avoid budget deficit
Iraq has decided they will attempt to "pre-sell" their oil now in an attempt to deal with budget deficit....at the same time they are trying to revamp existing oil contracts with many of the major foreign oil companies working in Iraq.....they need money for the deficit....they need money for the fight against terrorism.....they need money for just about everything....
Iraq is seeing a rise in oil prices today largely due to the ongoing strife in Yemen at this time and believe it to be short-lived....the Oil Ministry is still seeking Treasury bonds up to $12 billion dollars worth in which to pay what is owed to oil companies...
Plus the GOI is still in discussions with Citibank and Deutsche Bank for loans of $5 billion dollars...in other words they are looking in every direction to try and bridge the budget deficit.
Oil and financial Alniabaten discussing asked Abdul-Mahdi Treasury bond to pay dues companies
Oil, energy, and finance committee members met to discuss with the Oil Ministry the dire straits Iraq faces at the moment in making payments to the oil companies as well as the issue at hand with regard to existing oil contracts and how they are hurting Iraq today due to the low oil prices....again they seek Treasury bonds, loans, and postponement of projects as well as potential renegotiations with the oil companies for contracts that would be more in Iraq's benefit at this time of crisis.
Parliamentary Tourism attributes the lack of funds "visitor dollar" financial distress Exchange and the war against "terrorism"
Commission on Tourism is saying their financial numbers are way down, largely due to the issues associated with terrorism in Iraq today....the economic crisis is not helping things either....many hotels in areas of religious shrines have closed their doors due to the reduction in tourist numbers in the past year.
Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister: Rising Dollar serve Iraq and activates the work of local and production sectors
One economic advisor to PM Abadi is seeing the hike in the dollar value against the IQD as a means to push for greater acceptance of local Iraqi industry and agriculture efforts in the days and months to come.....reenergizing these sectors to help pull some of the weight being lost by continued low oil prices....
They believe that job opportunities will also be opening up within these sectors as they get their feet more squarely on the ground....it makes sense but this is Iraq.....so will the efforts really be that effective for them....meanwhile the CBI continues to work with the COM regarding taxation and trade issues that are being set up as well as with the private banking group within Iraq.
Kurdistan: our negotiations with the government is still going to send our share of the budget
A Kurdish MP says that negotiations are still underway to provide the 17% share of the budget to the Kurds while they do their part in sending oil for export at the agreed upon rates....talk talk talk....let's see some action going forward....a stacking of hands would be good.
Iraq to pay $ 14 billion in compensation for oil companies as a result of "poor planning"
Oil Minister Mahdi says that Iraq has paid oil companies more than $14 billion dollars or an average of $3.6 billion per year as a result of poor planning on the part of Iraq.....poor planning and lack of understanding on the part of the former government is what he's really saying.....time to stay on the ball with the real world Iraq.
Parliamentary Finance: The government has introduced only 30% of the budget in effect
Only 30% of the 2015 budget is currently enforced...the remaining 70% is supposedly coming in the next few days....does that mean by the end of the month....could that mean some activity that would cause some things to be retro-active to the first of the year.....get 'er done boys and girls....April 1 is not that far off.....liquidity remains the constant problem in all locations it seems.
Abadi's Ki-moon: Soon we will announce the final victory in Tikrit, followed by Anbar and Mosul
PM Abadi told ki-Moon today that victory in Tikrit is close at hand and soon to follow will be victories in Anbar and Mosul.....is he living a pipe dream.....I don't think so.....he's getting security forces lined up....he continues to get more and more troops trained to fight this urban war.....the coalition forces are bonding together better with Iraq since Iran has been somewhat removed from the equation.....they are breaking the back and resolve of ISIS with each passing day.....look for escalation of things in the coming days I think.
Parliamentary Finance: No room for the launch of the predecessor and the priority today for the defense and health
Iraq today focuses on making sure they have money to deal with defense and health issues throughout Iraq....the funding of new jobs can wait at this point as other things are a higher priority....as they should be.....makes life tough on new graduates....but these are austere times.....it is the luck of the draw you graduate in these times.....meanwhile the Rasheed and Rafidain Banks continue to try and work loans for Iraqis...up to 50 million IQD with a pay back of 10 years at an interest rate of 8%.
A bill in the US Congress to establish a Kurdish state
A bill before Congress now would in a sense create a view of Kurdistan as a state.....such a thing would allow for easier access to heavier weaponry for their Peshmerga fighters which they have been nagging the US for months to provide....and would allow these armaments to go directly to the Kurds and bypass Baghdad it sounds like.....not likely to make the folks in power in Baghdad too happy.....IMO....it's about time.
Parliamentary Finance allocated 500 billion dinars for the reconstruction of the liberated areas
So 500 billion IQD have been budgeted for reconstruction purposes in areas newly liberated from the hands of ISIS....a drop in the proverbial bucket....but more funds could be on the way once the liberation has been completed they say....and don't forget about international aid and money.....and no money gets delivered ahead of time to prevent it falling into the wrong hands.....remember PM Abadi has a reconstruction committee formed to monitor this effort.
Need to refill the coffee cup.....taking a break here.....happy Monday to one and all.
