Walkingstick: Iran, Indonesia call for enhanced banking ties
Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayebnia on Tuesday held talks with his Indonesian Minister of Finance Bambang PS Brodjonegoro on ways to enhance level of banking ties.
In a meeting in Jakarta, the two sides emphasized expansion of bilateral economic relations in the post-JCPOA era and explored the ways to ease banking transactions of their economic activists.
Voicing regret over sluggish economic ties between Iran and Indonesia over recent years due to unfair western sanctions, Tayebnia said policy of the government of Hope and Prudence is based on cooperation with all the world and friendly countries, especially Muslim countries like Indonesia.
He said that trade between Iran and Indonesia stood at more than two billion dollars in the past, but, it fell down to one tenth of the earliest level due to the unfair sanctions.
He expressed hope that regarding recent developments, the JCPOA implementation and the resolve of the two governments leaders for growing cooperation will lead to 10-fold rise in trade.

Thunderhawk: Japan economy returns to growth in Q1
Japan has sidestepped a recession with modest first-quarter growth, preliminary data showed on Wednesday, but the reading underscored how Tokyo's drive for a firm recovery in the world's number three economy is not gaining traction.
"But even if the government delays the tax hike, it still needs to set a course for getting public finances on a sound footing, which is not an easy job," said Yoko Takeda, chief economist at Mitsubishi Research Institute.
"The economy is in a tough situation with the strong yen hurting corporate earnings, stalled wages and a lack of confidence among consumers. There are going to be some tough times ahead."
Wednesday's figures came days before Japan hosts a meeting of the Group of Seven finance chiefs and a summit of their leaders next week.
The finance group — including US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and European Central Bank President Mario Draghi — converge at a hot spring town north of Tokyo where two days of meetings kick off on Friday.
Topping the agenda will be how the group of rich nations can help kickstart global growth, as host Japan struggles to light a fire under its own economy.
Abe's growth plan — big government spending, central bank monetary easing and reforms to the highly regulated economy — appeared to bear fruit at first, after he was ushered into power in late 2012 elections.

Don961: IMO .... this generation in Iran/Iraq ... many countries in the Middle East.... are being shown how security and cooperation and anti-corruption measures ....can bring untold prosperity and wealth and even peace that they have not experienced ... and have only read about in history books and stories passed down in families and clans of times past ... when the prosperity actually is experienced by the people on the street ... they will not be so easily subjected to follow sick , selfish , thieving leaders who promise them what they seek ... but only deliver war and death and chaos and more poverty
Thunderhawk: Iran for friendly economic ties with other countries
Referring to removal of unjust anti-Iran sanctions on January 16, Tayyebnia said the event made officials of the world countries travel to Iran to make use of unparalleled opportunities in the country.
Also, Iran attaches great significance to its economic relations with the regional countries, said Tayyebnia.
Without security, economic growth will not occur, he said while referring to the political tensions in the region in the past two decades.
To tackle the problems, Tayyebnia urged the members of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to strengthen economic cooperation in joint investment.
He stressed on making such investment with the help of Islamic Development Bank.
He further referred to resumption of interactions between Iran and international bodies including International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.
