10-7-12 LoriC: Maliki finally submitted names for the Defense Ministries!! We've been waiting for this forever. The National Meeting requires the Erbil agreement enacted and we believe as soon as Iraq has a power sharing government the Central Bank will be able to make their move.
I believe something big is in the works right now and a public announcement will be made of the reforms at the NC.
10-7-12 Mountainman: With the temporary Oil agreement in place, a national meeting in the works and all the talk from the CBI about making a move in the coming period to make the IQD on par with the USD, I'd say we are very, very close to the end of this journey.

10-7-12 BGG: First there is the constant and obvious struggle between the opposition and the dominant National Alliance (Maliki’s gang). This has been an ongoing battle for the soul of this fledgling democracy. Second there is something of a mild internal struggle with in the opposition itself.
This one is not so easy to identify – but it is there. Next is the steady barrage of attacks from the GOI, Maliki and some elements in the Iraqi Parliament against the Central Bank of Iraq.
Finally, there is the overt pressure of the incumbents against those outside forces (the US included) to manipulate pressure against their enemies in an effort to garner support for their political futures.
10-7-12 Choppermike: I'm currently in the Middle East and banks are NOT closed on Monday.
10-7-12 MrOptimistic: Went to my iPhone stocks app and looked at the 2 year chart for iqd=x (ticker) notice on October 27, 2010 that the iqd was at 11.00 instead of the usual ~1167.00 anyone else notice that?
10-7-12 Uncirculd: Maliki doesn't care. He wants business as usual. He wants the National Meeting to make promises. He will tell the Iraqi list that he will name the Defense Minister by June or something. And that he is willing to implement Erbil, and then spend the next 2 years trying to re-write it.
Allawi and Barzani will NOT go unless the Erbil is implemented and ministers in place. That's what they have been saying for over a year. That would begin the power sharing and put Mr Maliki in check.
