1-21-13 Doc: Some exciting news. No it is not the RV but it’s definitely good news toward that end. Based on published articles both inside and outside Iraq the European Union parliament has ratified an agreement between the EU and Iraq.
The Italian MEP Mario Mauro was quoted as saying "Iraq can enjoy new economic opportunities and receive a boost to its efforts to promote democracy and human rights in the country thanks to its first-ever framework agreement with the EU".
This suggest Iraq will become a major trading partner with the EU. Our view from them to do so is to move toward a true democracy and most definitely an international recognized tradable currency.
Mr. Mauro continues to say "Clearly, Iraq is in trouble and the transition is far from finished. At this time we have to create concrete opportunities for their economy and society. Our intention is to strengthen the country’s economic infrastructure and to guarantee development and peace". it most clearly shows the EU is now intimately involved with the success of Iraq.
This coupled with the USA should provide an incredible incentive for Iraq to return to the international stage as fast as they can. We also continue to contend for the transition to be complete enough for currency reform includes a power sharing stable GOI and the HCL done. We also think the international community is looking for the Kuwait situation to be resolved so chapter 7 can be lifted.
When asked about the status of democracy in Iraq Mr Mauro responded "People are concerned about the future and not thinking so much about the war. But Iraq is a country where exceptional interests come into play.
We have to remember that Saudi Arabia, Iran and probably Turkey are interested in destabilizing the country. So we need to stay near our Iraqi friends and foster dialogue in the country".
Recall we have continually reported that countries like Iran and Syria do not want currency reform in Iraq. This also confirms to us that Maliki has been the main block to currency reform due to his ties with Iran.
The situation with the EU also suggests to us Maliki's hold on Iraq is now numbered. We speculate again that we will either see Maliki suddenly cooperating toward democracy and suddenly disappearing from the political scene. In either case we view this as extremely positive.
All-in-all this is extremely positive news. We can not imagine the EU would have taken this step without some pretty good assurance that Iraq will prevail. The question continues to be when. Unfortunately the body of evidence does not support the at any second philosophy.
However, we would think this recent development with the EU should speed things up. It is hard for us to imagine Iraq not taking advantage of this and all the other opportunities the international community is offering as fast as they can. We report, you decide

1-20-13 Findmoney: The meeting Flashing states Tuesday is most likely the BOJ (Japan) meeting on whether to flood the markets with Yen or not. BOJ has the power to flood the markets with Yen and dump US Treasuries. Causing who know what! Could be ugly. I think were at the end of this because impatience with the USA is running real high on fixing the mess.
Don’t worry about IRAQ! We are way beyond that now. It’s do or die time this week. Japan and China are sick and tired and Japan has a meeting Tuesday to decide to increase the Yen money supply, thus dumping US Treasuries sinking the dollar. Big week ahead.
By the way Japan has a huge agreement with Iraq on a loan for billions. And it won’t happen unless the RV or they sell huge amounts of US Treasury bonds
